Model X 2017 unable to start and to charge after losing 12V battery

Got a terrible day here in Canada. -30 Celsius.
And got a terrible bad luck; I got home in the middle of the night at 0%. Plugged in successfully. Went to bed.
But right after, a software update started.

Since it was -30 outside, the 12v battery went dead in the middle of the update without charging. So this morning, the car looked dead.

I was able to charge the 12V battery. Turn everything on. Finished the update.

But now I cannot charge. It says unable to start. Unable to charge. Service required.

I have no other option to force charging. And I can’t restart the computer. I don’t know why, but it wouldn’t restart.

Anyone has an idea before I tow it?

Sounds like the displays turn on but the car just won’t start? Does the car connect to Wi-Fi or LTE (e.g. can you see it in the Tesla app)? If so, it may be worth calling Tesla support and see if they can remote in to diagnose.

Ok, i found the solution after talking with an ex-technician.

  1. I had to boost the 12V battery the whole time for it to keep its charge
  2. Problem was the software update has been interrupted so many times, not all modules were updated. Some were on the previous version. So we had to force re-download and re-install the update. But it’s easier said than done.
  3. So to do it, we entered service mode (you will find the procedure online)
  4. Then go to software reinstall
  5. Select all
  6. Ask
  7. Then 5 min later, install now
  8. Wait 50 minutes
  9. Stop stressing because everything works.
