Actually if you buy from Tesla, the warranty is not an extended warranty, but a new full 4 year/50k used warranty (the same as the original warranty). The drive warranty stays the same (continuing from original purchase).

Yes, so if you buy it CPO from Tesla, your warranty will reset to 4 years from the date of purchase, and 50K from that point of purchase.
Make sure that it says 4yr/50k in the description on the website, since cars with more than 50k miles will only have a 2yr 100k max total mile warranty.
So as an example, I purchased my X last month with 24k miles. For me my warranty will last for 4 more years or until I hit 74k miles.
