I've wondered this too. Are they delivered directly off the truck to the purchaser?

I've also been seeing loads of MY's being driven down the Central Valley. The Oompa Loompas are hard at work!

I saw the same - drove from the Sacramento area to LA and back a week or so ago - so several car carriers loaded with MYs on the 5 headed South. What was also interesting is I saw a couple of otherwise empty car carriers with 1 or 2 MYs headed back north towards the SF Bay Area. I wondered whether they were delivery rejects headed back to the factory . . .
 
I see the white delivery film covering the door trim. I honestly haven't seen a delivery truck picture with any other protective film than that. I don't think Tesla covers their hoods like most other manufacturers do. Probably why we see more nicks and scratches at delivery.
