Elon Musk confirms that Samsung’s battery cells will not be used in Tesla vehicles, Panasonic gets exclusivity [Updated]

Well Sanmsung's SP had a big boost when the rumors of Tesla using its cells in Model 3 broke.

There was the same rumor of Samsung SDI striking a deal with Tesla in 2015, but nothing substantial came out of it.

I'm not sure this was the source of the rumor, but the recent battery shipment from Samsung SDI to Tesla had cells there were clearly not the capacity suitable for the S/X or 3 (although it might work as replacement cells for the Roadster or for Tesla Energy packs).

JUST the S, X and 3. Nothing about past (Roadster) or future (?) models using batteries from a different source. Even if they don't, they 'might'. You have to be very precise about the interpretation of EM's runic utterances. If he didn't say exactly that, he didn't say it.
