Overland and Off road Model X

Hi All,

I’m sure many of you have seen the render by Mo Aoun, a rally raid style beast. This and the Bollinger B1 &B2 has inspired me to contemplate the possibilities of an off road Model X.

There has been quite a few hypermiling records set driving on tarmac and I wondering how this could translate to driving slowly on dirt, sand, gravel and rock crawling.

EVs would make excellent off road vehicles because of all that torque, 50/50 weight distribution and a 100D has potentially 700km range if driven slowly.

Is anyone planning to do any upgrades to suspension, Drivetrains or off road accessories in general?

I’d love to read the forum thoughts on lifting upgrades rather than lowering upgrades to their Model X, actually any Tesla really.

Yep, I just found a post about the Bollinger here on TMC putting up all the usual range anxiety arguments... boring. ICE trucks are horribly inefficient at slow speeds if someone has an actual comparison of an EV against an ICE hypermiling off road I love to see that data.

Driving slowly on a smooth paved road can indeed reduce energy usage dramatically.

Driving at any speed on rough uneven surfaces will dramatically increase energy usage due to the greatly increased rolling resistance.
