Passenger seat belt alert

Hey all,
Took delivery of my model 3 yesterday and wife rode with me. My first solo trip, despite the passenger seat being empty, the car is alarming me for passenger seat to be buckled and keeps beeping until I buckle it.
Is this normal or is something wrong?

Did you have a bag on that seat? Seat has sensors that sense weight or pressure. Remove the backpack and throw it on the floor.

Wife had the same issue on the Chevy Volt.

Unfortunately there’s no bag on there. I sat in it and moved around trying to get something to trip

. The sensor shows the passenger airbag is off.

Reboot the car first, press on the breaks and hold down the two wheel buttons on the steering wheel, this reboots the computer like what you would do on your cell phone. If it corrects it then you’re ok, if not. Check with the nearest service center in your area.
