Passive Authentication

The latest Tesla Iphone app has added a new feature called passive authentication which can disable the phone to be used as a key. I was not initially sure if it disabled all configured phones that could be used for passive entry/driving on the car side or the phone side. The new function is performed on the smartphone side. If it was done at the car side, it could theoretically slightly reduce the sleeping drain (but not by much). IE. the car would not need to detect a configured smartphone Bluetooth LE device. I will use this new feature,, instead of turning off Bluetooth when I am parked close to to a motel room.
