So, I've just read Brandon's post about Texas buyers needing to pay well in advance due to state laws on direct sales. Has anyone here in TX paid with a cashier's check? Was it at delivery?

Unless it has changed, cars sold in texas are actually sold in CA and "delivered" to texas to get around texas current dealer laws, so you have to pay before they will ship your car.
Perhaps something has changed, regarding that process, I dont live there so I dont know for sure, but thats how it was previously. If the law hasnt changed, then you will have to pay ahead of time in texas (and other states that do not allow direct sales of vehicles due to dealer laws).
