This happens randomly for me. Sometimes the podcast starts up when I get in the car even if I've stopped the podcast before getting out of the car. Sometimes it doesn't and I have to start the podcast which is my desired situation. But most of the time, it does start up where it left off. I just think the new app isn't fully optimized yet and hope it gets more consistent with future updates. The thing that annoys me most about the app is that I accidentally drag the time bar when I'm trying to do fast forward and I lose my place in the podcast.
