When i took delivery for my Model S, I had to tell them that I owed them $$. It wasn't the most organized experience.

By applying the $7,500 rebate to the residual they also make you pay interest on it, so you don't get the full benefit of the rebate. If you buy the car out at the end, you actually pay more than if there hadn't been a rebate because of the extra interest payments.
