Returning Government Incentives when selling

Does anyone have experience returning the government incentives if we sell the car within a year?
I bought a 2022 Model 3 (received both BC and Federal rebates) but will need to sell it within a year of ownership.

Do we wait for a letter or do we proactively need to email Tesla to return the money?
