Right Pillar Camera Blocked or Blinded

I've been getting this message after I download 2019.40.21. It appears for about minute or less then disappears. It happens on a sunny day as well as late at night. It recommends that I clean the camera which I did but see nothing blocking the view.

No condensation or anything that I can see. The warning disappeared quickly before I had chance to take a picture.

It is! Although I once lived on the same street in Vermont as another Ilya K, we were probably the only two people with this first name in the entire state. Are you Russian/Ukrainian, or did your parents just enjoy Man from U.N.C.L.E a little too much?

Same scenario for my model 3 after the update. Except mine said left b pillar camera....

I had this pop up for me as well on my drive home tonight, however for me it was my front left camera it complained about. Never seen it before. I'm also running the 2019.40.21 code.

Even though it may not appear to be blocked, the Tesla Tech told me to quickly wipe off the pillar cameras on a regular basis. Even if they don't look dusty they can have a thin layer on them that you'll notice when you wipe it off.

Same here. Yesterday got it for the first time (mine was on the left hand side) after upgrading to 2019.40.2.1. What got my attention was that there was very strong sun shine on that side and I thought the sun might have blinded my camera.

I had this same message popping up when I drove near a concrete barrier that was blocking the front camera’s view (left side). As soon as I switched to the other lane the message dissapeared. Moved to the lane near the barrier again and the message popped up again.....

I'll confirm this. When the barrier was low enough AP was happy. When the barrier was higher AP complained. I assume any camera that is seeing just a featureless view thinks it might have a problem.

add me to the list getting this error on 2019.40.2, just got my 2020 less than a week ago but has been raining alot. no fog, moisture, or dust but each time it has come on its its after ive been driving home for about an hour and almost home on dark backroads with open shoulders so I thought it might just be so dark its not seeing anything???

Just got this message for the left b pillar while driving with the sun on that side. There wouldn’t have been condensation. I’ll have to check the dashcam footage when I get home.

Same error on my 3, with the latest version. I pulled over right away and did observe condensation.

You have to pull over right away to observe it. It evaporates pretty quick. I have a feeling that the latest version is more sensitive now.
