Actually, if there will be violent megastorms than perhaps going solar and/or wind power is not the right way to go.

?? Why? It's easier to pick up the pieces of a wind farm than recover from a nuclear plant that just got swamped by a storm surge or flooding...

A co-worker tried to use the Greensburg tornado as a reason why solar was a bad idea; 'It would have just destroyed all their generation'.... yeah... but most arrays are rated to ~140mph winds... so if the array gets wiped out odds are the house is too... your generation is gone but so is your consumption... on the flip side if an F5 tornado hit a nuclear plant you just lost a big chunk of production but all your consumption is still intact. The reactor building is hardened and would survive but not the turbine building... that reactor would be offline for months or years.

Very good points.
