The service centers these days like to call defects "Normal" when every car has the same issue. In my opinion, if something was intended (and is generally) supposed to be a certain way, and the defect causes an issue, it should be fixed.
My cracks were not present when the car was delivered with 5 miles on the odometer - we know this because we discussed the funky weld seals at length with the delivery person. They WERE present with 99 miles on the odometer. We were also told by the delivery manager that these are cracks of the bonding material, apparently a material like Bondo, and are “normal” and seen on many Model Xs. I didn’t really buy it, but one of the mechanics who I trusted reassured me that they see this all the time and that it’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
