Sleeping Inside a Model 3!???

I had a sleeping bag in my S. Traded it for an air mattress. Sleep in it alot on road trips at night.

It makes a HUGE difference.
TBH, my tempurpedic topper doesn't suffice. Debating on buying a second one or some sort of pad to put underneath the tempurpedic.

I give you credit Lasttoy; I too would like to travel by camping but for me nowadays I'd have to wake up and wiggle outta there every couple hours just to go pee...
I just did a San Diego-to-Dallas-to-San Diego round trip with a friend. Drove straight there for the weekend and straight back. It's 35" wide and fits nicely between the shock towers. It overhangs the top of the back seats when folded down slightly, but otherwise fits nicely. It rolls up nicely and fits into a carry bag. My buddy and I took 2-3 hour shifts centered on Supercharger locations and slept when needed. I am not recommending that anyone do this, but if you do, buckle all three back seat belts before you fold the setbacks down to avoid being reminded that the seat belts aren't fastened when weight is detected on the seats. We're both 6" tall and had lots of room with my suitcase in the lower trunk and his in the frunk. What a great automobile.

Much much cheaper than the DreamCase ($600). Di you sleep overnight in the car? Camper mode?
Not overnight. We did both occaisonally sleep while charging and kept the HVAC on, but not long enough to see it time out. I think it would shut off after awhile, but it didn't while we were charging. I should say that our longest charge was 50 minutes.

Why didn't you just sleep in the glove box or center console?

Just back from a trip California to Colorado, I learned on my trip to LA that a sleeping bag is not enough padding. I got a 3-inch latex foam pad we use in the RV to make the dinette bed a bit more comfortable and laid it out, covered it with a thick blanket, put in two big pillows and a sleeping bag, brought my bathrobe and towel and I slept great!
Best part was that in the morning I rolled the pad up and flipped up the seats and you couldn't tell I was on a road trip. With all that stuffed in the trunk, I still was able to get into the lower trunk to get things out of my suitcase, or even take out my suitcase when I was at a hotel. Used the frunk for a hamper, had a glorious trip. A little hard getting in enough to swing your feet into the trunk, you have to close the door with your feet.
Yes people did check the car out but I didn't care, potentially there is a photo of my sleeping somewhere on the net. I parked at a rest stop going east and a casino charger going west, where it was HOT, glad I had the power to drive the AC. Should have pre-cooled the trunk, it took some time to dissipate that heat, but the AC turned into heat by the morning. Wish my RV was that smart, I have to get up and flip the switch on the thermostat, while the Tesla just tracked the desired temp. I used an app called Camper to keep the Model 3 HVAC on while the screen was asleep.
Not like the Model S where you can sleep two, but for one it was VERY nice, I am probably too big to share even a Model S, so perfect. If you are following in my footsteps I found a backpack was a great addition, for taking clothes to a restroom to change into PJ's and brush teeth. I tried changing just in my bathrobe while in LA and that was not cool, not taking it next trip.

I guess I’m having trouble conceptualizing this. Why do you close the door with your feet?
Also, I assume most people sleep with their head toward the front of the car, to look out the roof, but would it be possible to sleep with your head in the trunk, for privacy? Or would that just be way too weird/claustrophobic?
For my S, I believe I've discovered the best option for sleeping in style.
Get the smallest Swiss megamat , its crazy comfy....
Also order some MMA cushion flooring squares (pretty light and gets rid of the bump).... if you get the smaller megamat you don't have to worry about putting all of the seats down in the back.... just the two largest.
