A friend of mine who owns a M3 (I have a MY) had his J1772 adapter get stuck in his vehicle’s charge port when trying to charge a day or so ago. He released it using the manual release but was confounded by what had taken place.
He experimented and went back to the same charger location (LI NY, ChargePoint). Here’s what he wrote me:
"Went back to the same set of chargers to try again. It was busy there and I managed to get a defective charger again (probably same one as before). The J1772 got locked in the port again. So rather than manually unlocking it, I just moved over to another available charger. Plugged it into the adaptor and it worked perfectly. At completion, I unplugged the charger and the J1772 came out with it. It seems that if you plug the adaptor into the port by itself, the charge port will not unlock; it needs to be attached to a working charger to unlock; at least that's my theory."
Thought the M3 forum might want to know.
