Suggestions for places to sell Tesla?

Hey guys... I've decided to sell my 2021 M3 Performance and start listing it this weekend after I detail it and take some glamor shots.

My question is: outside of posting to this forum, where have you had success selling your Tesla? I usually trade in but this time I am opting for a private sale and the last time I did this was like 10+ years ago. I ended up finally selling it through Craigslist.

So what about other places like offerup, craigslist, or used car sites? Just curious what others have had success with so I don't waste time/money.

I'm in San Diego.

Thanks!

The biggest hurdle to selling is to price it right.

Yes Facebook is full of lowballers, but it is also full of cars that sit for weeks and months because owners don't price them realistically. For example, I messaged a guy a couple of days ago that was selling a 2023 Model Y with 2k miles, white/black with 20's. He was asking 61k, so I thought maybe it had full self drive or at least enhanced auto pilot. His spec to buy right now is $54,130 with shipping and order fee's, I have that same car on order. His reponse back to me was no enhanced or FSD, his price is what he paid and he's not going to take a loss.

Price it correctly and you will find a buyer. There is lots of inventory sitting out there, both private and dealers, that aren't selling because they aren't priced right.

I’ve sold many a car on eBay Motors. Buyers are generally (in my experience) of aa better quality, it’s as easy as the others, and eBay has lots of protections in player for seller as well and not just the buyer like their regular product listings.

How much fees do you have to paid for car auctions?

I noticed that when having a item for sale on e-Bay, you have to give about 15% to e-Bay from various fees.

For regular products that is true as I sell on Amazon and eBay.

Google is your friend.

The fees for selling a vehicle on eBay Motors are different from the fees for selling items in other categories. The amount you pay depends on the listing package you choose – Basic, Premium, or Plus. Each listing package offers different levels of bundled features for a set fee.

I was considering place my car on eBay motors. My fear was that the car gets there in the same condition but then the buyer complains about something and tries to get me to give some money back or having to get the car shipped back to me.

I’m pretty sure just like their regular listings you can select local pickup only and no shipping. You’re in the Bay Area so should be plenty of buyers.

That said I’m in Los Angeles and sold a Lexus to a gentleman in Alaska who works for the oil industry. The weather is so bad up their he just buys a used car every 4 years. He had me drop off at a friends out and he flew down and was going to drive it back to Alaska!!! Anyway when he got it he said the electric mirror wasn’t working when it was the last time I used it it was. We talked about it but given the $25k he paid for the car he wasn’t really going to make a big deal over a couple hundred.

There are some specialised locations where you can leave your car (like this one near Oakland) ,
so interested buyers can look at the car, and have a 20 minute drive. They they can contact you if interested.
Looking at the listing, most of the cars get sold between few days and a month.

... and was going to drive it back to Alaska!!!

There is a ferry near Seattle (at Bellingham) going to Whittier, takes about 4 days, or you can drive...

I've posted on Craigslist, Offerup, Cargurus, FB Marketplace, and here.
Zero action from this forum for my car, but a lot of interest in parts for sale.
Craigslist had a couple of questions, but more interest in the wheels.
FB Marketplace has had a lot of questions, and a lot of SPAM.
OfferUp had a lot of views, and one interested party.
Cargurus had some views, and I'm currently discussing with one very interested person who may end up buying the car.

Depending on the $$, time is money for me at this point in my life. I don’t want the hassle. I don’t want the stress. I don’t want to deal with numerous meets ups annd anll the test drives. And I don’t want someone coming back to me complaining about this or that.
