Suspension torque check - why 4 post lift?

I've noticed a minor creaking noise from the front end when cornering (normal speeds, nothing fast) and am planning on checking/torquing the suspension according to the procedure at Suspension - Front - Check Torque

My question is why does it tell you to reinstall the wheels in the middle of the process (step 4) rather than the end? Seems like it would just make it harder to perform.
