Not trying to extinguish your enthusiasm, it definitely is a great car to own, I'm just trying to set your expectations a little. First, the $7,500 federal and $2,500 CA incentives are still in place, so you really didn't pay $105K in the end (you paid ~$95K before taxes). Almost anyone who reads this forum will know that. Second, your new car competition is a brand new S75D, equipped the same is $80K exactly after federal and CA rebates (the price below doesn't show $2,500 CA incentive):

TeslaPriceCompare.png

For that, someone gets a brand new car with 0 miles, full warranty. Granted they get a 75 battery instead of 85, but that is really only usable 4KWh difference (77KWh usable in 85 and 73KWh usable in 75). Rated miles on a 75D is 259, so 11 miles less than your car.

Is $6K worth 2 years and 23K miles more warranty, AP2 instead of AP1, bio hazard mode, facelift nose, center console, and 11 miles less rated range, and of course a brand new car with all the latest improvements. That's the question your buyers would be asking themselves and why it may be hard for you to get that price.

Some good points but some details missing as well. Need to add $2K for the sunroof as well so it comes to 92K (without the tax credits). Add 10% for tax and reg and its 102K so that is ~94K
With my car, tax and reg included (assuming I come down to 73K) is ~80K.
I would put a price of at least 7K for the 10KWh battery so now the total difference is ~20K. Not chump change I would say for almost new car that you get. And dont have to wait for year end for the tax credit.

Now that CA 2500, due to income restrictions very few people are eligible. Below 150K(single)/300K(joint) income are eligible. Earning that much, living in the bay area and buying 100K car doesnt addup - no offense to anyone there.

I think that is why Tesla CPO is offering 85D, 2015, 42K miles for 71K (without cold weather package) or 85, 2014, 23K miles for 72K. I think if you price adjust that for miles or D its 78K. So my car is at least 5K or so discount compared to that.

Yes you do. In CA you pay tax on everything and big tax.
I think "big" is relative. In WA state where I live tax+registration is ~11.6%. In Ontario Canada the tax on a car is 13.5% + registration I don't know since haven't bought a car there in a long time. CA 10% doesn't sound so big in comparison. In some countries in Europe, the tax is 100% - not that is a BIG tax. :)

If you're going to say "you pay $30K less!" then you should compare apples to apples. You say you paid $102K with tax+registration and the buyer will pay $30K less than you, so that would be $72K with tax and registration, which would require your price to be $65.5K before tax+reg (assuming 10% you said)? I know, that pesky math. ;)

PS> If you take your car to Tesla and get a trade-in value, that's ~$10K less than what they think they will sell it as CPO (so with full 4 year warranty and reconditioned). Note that they may list it a bit higher at first and hope they get more, but expect that it likely will sell for less.

AND one would be able to get a proper test drive too...that's worth something :)

Yeah I've seen it in many places on Craigslist, they reply after a few days saying the message they got was empty, then after some exchanges you get the full scam in place, see below:

Hi, the Tesla is still available for $45,900. It has 23,600 miles, clean title, no accidents and no money owing on it, and I recently had it inspected by the specialists from National Auto Inspections LLC and has been rated in excellent condition. I have attached both, the Carfax Report and the Inspection Report to this email for you. I am a pilot and I just got a very good contract with British Airways in London and I need the money for an advance on a house here in UK, that's why I am in a hurry to sell it. I have left the Tesla there in US at a freight company, with all the paperwork (title signed by me, keys, service records, etc) so they can handle everything for me.

Let me know if you are interested and here is a link with more pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WFwCJQ6u13hpqOXt1

I have the car now at Edmunds Detroit Sales Office, with the title, signed by me, keys and all the docs, and I have empowered them to transfer ownership on my behalf.
Your will make payment to them, they will secure your payment and ship the vehicle (all shipping charges will be covered by me). You will receive it, inspect it for 3 days and if you accept it, they will pay me and transfer the title to your name, if not, they will pick it up from you and refund your full payment. To go ahead you will need to set up a transaction trough Edmunds on their website:http://www.edmunds.com.set-up-transaction.online using my reference number (02TZ2539E7).
You can see detailed description and both the Autocheck History Report and the complete Carchex Inspection Report on my Edmunds listing here: http://www.edmunds.com.en-cars.info/cars-for-sale/02TZ2539E7.php?VIN:5YJSA1E24GF129506

What a sneaky way to use Edmunds in their domain name link. Thanks for sharing this.

I’m going to start a thread so we can post new found scam postings for those that are not aware. I’m thinking it should be in the for sale forum due to its direct connection to sales. Mod correct me if I’m wrong.

The For Sale section is for sale listing, there is a general chit chat section in the for sale section if you feel you want to post them there.
