I was just about breaking even at $6200 when adding gas/drive time when compared to a purchase through Tesla where I get a SGIP rebate plus federal rebate. With a personal sale and the loss of the credit plus rebate I actually start to loose out around $6000. I thought it was worth an extra $200 to get a battery sooner.

There’s no reason you can’t take the federal tax credit on a private sale.
