How do you listen to the radio? Does it make any difference what kind of music you are listening to? It might make a difference if you are a music listener. Listen to any kind of music and ask yourself if it makes any difference to your brain. How would you feel if you were able to increase the flow of dopamine in your brain?

Different types of radio programs activated by different groups of participants in several ways. For example, there were some programs that featured music from the worlds of R&B and rap. There were also programs that feature classical music, nature sounds and jazz. Across the board, participants experienced a boost of serotonin a brain chemical that is responsible for feelings of well being and having positive thoughts.

Listen to the radio and change your brain's activity. Different participants had different patterns of brain activity while listening to different kinds of music. When participants listened to talkback, they experienced an increase in activity in the left parahippocampal gyrus and the posterior cingulate. Talkback seemed to function as a facilitator that allowed participants to shift their neural networks to match their personal preferences.



Listen to the radio and feel excited about learning new things. Several studies revealed that people who regularly listen to radio shows are attracted towards information that they can use. For example, there was a correlation between males and females in the United Kingdom who listened to more news and factual programs with a conservative slant than programs that gave a liberal slant. They also had a greater propensity to purchase books and periodicals with a conservative slant. However, the link between radio listeners and book readers is still unclear.



Listen to the radio and change how you think about your daily commute. Regularly listen to popular radio shows so that you can familiarize yourself with their formats. Furthermore, take advantage of the talking points incorporated in the program and try to incorporate them into your daily commute. This will help you adjust your listening habits to match your new way of thinking.
