I was guessing that the convention center is a private entity, hence greatly easing financial, bureaucratic, and political obstacles. This does not seem to be the case, however. I haven't read this particular article, and do hope the whole thing turns out to be more than a trial balloon. Vehicle speed wouldn't need to be particularly high on such a short [initial?] stretch.

An all electric people mover would do just fine in this situation. The Tesla name and brand on such a thing would be great advertising for the company.
