Waking up?

What is the chain of events when the car is "waking up" when the app is activated. Why does it sometime take a while?

It has to talk to the car over the cellular connection, if the car has marginal connection (often the case in a garage) then it can just take awhile.

Our Model 3 takes 2-3 times longer to wake up via the app than the Model S. Not sure why.

I think that the Model 3 goes into a little different sleep to help conserve the batteries.

You park the Model S in-between the Model 3 and the cell site, signals just can't reach the 3

That’s a possibility but my car is inside the home garage with strong WiFi connection with the phone/app on the same WiFi. It has more to do with how the car goes in deeper sleep most of the times.

The app communicates with the car via LTE...and must go through Tesla's servers so anyone's guess where the delay is. May not be a delay in waking up just a delay in making the connection.

Actually both are on WiFi and Model 3 is closer to the access point.

Didn't realize that! Good point!
When I get a chance I may swap the car parking spots and will see if it makes a difference.
