What’s up with Tesla’s release notes?

The “what’s new” section contains features that have been available for many releases, making it hard to understand what exactly has changed in a given update.

Is there a 3rd party tool that lists, say, the first firmware version a feature was available?

this is on purpose and not everyone gets every update. They would have no idea what updates they did not get if they went straight from 5.15 to 8.5 for instance. All they would have seen is the NoaP update and had no idea about all the other stuff.

Granted they could pull a diff and show you a csutomized output based on your car, but I dont think its a big deal.

@ent3ndu Keep in mind that not everyone gets every update. A lot of people get skipped over due to the rollout of the updates in waves. Not the greatest way to know what exactly is "new" as you said, but a simple read through is pretty obvious as to what the new features are. Considering you're on this forum, you're probably aware of the features coming to each firmware version before you even receive it. I'd be more concerned about those people who aren't on any forum or Tesla websites on the daily.

Yes, what changed? That's exactly what my car did last night. 5.15 to 8.5 - What did I get/lose??

you would have no idea about getting everything except NoaP, everything else was in updates between those 2.

Each feature should have a “first available in version” flag, and then when your car updates it shows release notes for features that have been added for you.

Nope, this one repeated things in the past update. It did look like it removed the interim release notes though.

Tons of sites. The two biggest one's are probably Electrek and Teslarati. And of course there's always Elon's twitter. Plus a good number of Tesla specific podcasts available.

I'm still hoping that the day will come when the update will tell me IN ADVANCE about what firmware version it wants to install so I can evaluate whether I want it or not.

I know you have a choice, but I think you pretty much have to keep up the firmware if you expect Tesla to keep your warranty and service valid. Right?
