Where to charge in Palm Springs

Staying in a private house in Palm Springs for a month in February - March. Can you please tell me where I can charge my Tesla day to day? Thanks

The service center in Cathedral City has a few HPWC for use. The Tesla store on El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert has several HPWC in the parking lot behind the stores. I would call them first, though so they can free a plug up for you as they generally use them to charge the test drive vehicles. Plenty of shopping and dining on El Paseo.

Download PlugShare to your phone or computer. There are many J1772 plugs available that charge at 30A with voltage varying from 208 to 240. Many of the public chargers are on the ChargePoint system, so sign up for ChargePoint to get enrolled. I know for fact that there are a bunch of public chargers that are free (Chargepoint) located at the parking garage for the Spa Resort and Casino just off Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. Take your adapter.

You might have to spend the better part of one day every so often at these public chargers to fill your battery enough to be able to enjoy the desert. The average 30A charger will add about 6-7 kW per hour to the battery, or about 20-25 miles of range per hour.

Of course, trickle charging at the house where you are staying at 120/15 will still provide about 3 miles of range per hour; an overnight charge of twelve hours will add close to forty miles.

If all else fails, the Cabazon Supercharger is about 20 minutes away on Interstate 10, and the Indio Supercharger is about 30 minutes away on Interstate 10. Cabazon is west towards El Lay, while Indio is east towards the desert. Grab a date shake while in Indio!

Thank you so much for your very helpful information. I'll feel more secure in bringing the car now I know what to do and where to go. Can't say a date shake sounds too appetizing but I will give it a try!

There are 8 Superchargers in Indio just off the freeway. Not too far from Palm Springs, and one charge should be good for a few days. There are also some hotels and restaurants in the are where you can top off if you’re dining with them. The Superchargers at Cabazon are good when you arrive and depart the desert.
