Windscreen fan starts high speed all the time

when the windscreen gets foggy i need to turn on the fan, but when it comes on , it always turns on high speed, and if push the button to the red (heat) it starts up the airconditioning.
Most other cars, they are independent, turn on the windscreen fan, then if we need a higher speed select it.
I would really like to just have it on low speed for a longer period.
Is anyone else annoyed with this

You want it on the blue setting for defogging. This will use the AC to remove humidity. The fan should slow down after a short while (I think). The red setting is for de-ice and uses the heater plus AC with fan on full blast.
