I've always found the wipers to be either hyper or very lackadaisical. I use Rain X as I can see better when they're not wiping fast enough, that and I've always used it.

I've done the Bathurst to Sydney trip a few times and you can get from Bathurst to Penrith using less than 5% total because it's all downhill from Mount Victoria. 0% usage does seem off though, but it may not be a whole lot off.

To add to this, if the insurance company has a lot of repairs waiting on the books it might work out cheaper to write it off than repair it. This almost happened to mine and I only had multiple minor panel damage. That way they can get the other repairs done. Hopefully it works out for you.
