Cheers - sounds promising. Its what I am hoping for / expecting. Trading the Etron for a model 3? :-)

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Cheers - Ill look forward to testing out this on the 3. Im a big fan of of adaptive cruise - until I get behind people who dont drive smoothly. Still no definitive answer whether touching the brakes on light regen activates more regen prior to activating the friction brakes. Will find out...

Yep - similar with the PHEV but I just use the paddles down the freeway without hanging my foot on the accelerator. So can you run down the freeway on low regen without brakes or does it need to be in high? (the 3 could be different to your S of course)

Yes I can do this with the PHEV also but I find it less relaxing to drive (maybe its just me). I find the paddles which adjust the regen to be useful around town - often I will cruise downhill for a few km with zero or small regen and with no feet on pedals - yes I do have adaptive cruise also...

Regen question I havent seen an answer to .. If you set regen to 'low', then when you lightly touch the brake does it first increase the regen before actually applying the friction brakes? My PHEV does this and it is quite effective.

Looking at the docs in cimryan/teslausb it would quite likely do what you need, even with a bit of customising to regularly clear out some of the allocated 16GB (assume you mean GB not MB) to somewhere else safe. Unless you are a bit familiar with Linux it may be tough work though ...

Awesome - maybe some duct tape and you have 7x24 J tariff. My controlled load ripple controller has 30Amps written on it so that would be the max for me without the risk of it self destructing. Agreed. I like to get as much info as possible so that I can buy the right gear and get it...

Cool - thanks. Ill keep an eye on that one. Looks like it allows for copying footage over to your home WiFi so may do what you want. You can also run an SSD on an RPI => lots of storage if you want. Ill leave it for down the track when the 'new car' feeling starts wearing off.

As far as I am aware, by definition, controlled load is remotely controlled by the electricity supplier using a ripple control box. If you have one it will be in your meter box and pretty obvious. It will have an LED showing when the circuit is on. In practice I dont think the times change...

Agreed - thats logical. Murphy sometimes says otherwise :-) Let us know how you go with Tesla.

    Help with HPWC

Looking at your first photo I was thinking the red and purple? signal wires look like they have a pretty severe kink in them just before the crimp on connectors. A screwdriver slip while doing up the large neutral? Might be worth checking the continuity of those two - or trim and re crimp.
