I unplugged the USB devices in the center console before going into Drive and Cruise Control/AP are working again. This morning plugged them back in and formatted the dashcam USB from the menu and all back to normal. Firmware 12.3.1 on a 2018 M3

You could do the scroll wheel reset, it now records your current drive into the score and splits subsequent driving into a new trip without even parking the car. The screen restart will take longer than exiting and entering the car though so arguable which is more convenient in your situation.
