    Software Update 2018.39.x (Version 9)

I also just went from 36.2 to 39.7 this morning. It looks like the floodgates have opened up, with lots of people getting 39.7

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

This video has a lot of detail about the OEM 20" Tesla wheels that you get with the PUP, and why many aftermarket wheels aren't going to work with the special brake hub, rotor, and larger Brembo calipers that you get with the PUP. I want a set of aftermarket wheels that I can mount dedicated...

Biggest Positive and Negative Surprises About Model 3 AWD Performance Version

I was unpleasantly surprised that it doesn't have XM-Sirius Satellite radio. I got very used to that in my 2013 Model S P85. I know I can stream it from my phone over BT, but if I don't have a decent cell signal, that doesn't work. That is one of the beauties of satellite radio. Other than...

Colorado waiting room - M3 Performance AWD or non-Perf AWD

You must be David, of DAErik fame, since he recounted the same story on a recent video. Regardless of that, its great you were helping out!

While on vacation should I leave my Model 3 plugged in or not?

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. It doesn't take more power to charge if the battery is at a higher charge level. The charge rate tapers off (less current goes in) as it get's closer to a full charge, which it means that it takes longer to gain each mile of range. The Model 3 LR...

While on vacation should I leave my Model 3 plugged in or not?

Tesla recommends that you always leave your car plugged in if possible. Also, there is no need to dial the charge limit back to 50%, ever. Its not going to help your battery life. The default, non-range charge setting is perfectly fine to avoid hurting battery life from doing a range charge on...

Questions from a prospective Model 3 performance owner

Despite your protests, your biggest issues seem to be driven by economics and perhaps a sense of entitlement. Tesla low-balled your trade-in, Tesla wouldn't give you a big enough discount on a demo vehicle. You might not get free Supercharging. Tesla wouldn't kiss your ass in some other way "to...

Questions from a prospective Model 3 performance owner

Your initial questions and follow-up post are sort of in conflict. Nation-wide, Tesla appears to have very strong demand for Model 3s, including the Model 3 Performance with all of the options. There are also many extremely positive reviews of the Model 3 Performance from both established car...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

My advice is to NOT try to use high performance summer tires in any snow (despite having AWD). Summer tires are absolutely worthless and actually dangerous in snow due to the rubber compound, tread pattern, etc. Having AWD helps a little as far as getting started, but not with braking and steering.

What happens to my deposit and down payment if Tesla runs out of cash?

I don't think we've seen any evidence that reservation cancellations are running higher than new orders/configurations coming in. Despite all of the trolling on forums and in the corporate media, Tesla is still an aspirational brand. I think the Q3 numbers will be extremely good, and will...

What happens to my deposit and down payment if Tesla runs out of cash?

I too have a "classic" P85, that is even older than yours. I don't feel any need to compare the size of our bank accounts or investment portfolios (which is irrelevant for this discussion). As a long time Tesla owner/observer/"finance guy", you should know better than to actually think that...

Colorado waiting room - M3 Performance AWD or non-Perf AWD

Pretty much everyone you talk to at Tesla will give you a different story about nearly anything you ask about, which is pretty frustrating. All the employees I have talked to are friendly and eager to help, but I think there is a lot of internal confusion going on. At the same time, the...

    It’s here!

The charge rate of a Supercharger (or any charger) slows down quite a bit as the battery get closer to a full charge. What you'll find if you do road trips in a Tesla is that you will want to only charge to maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of a full charge at each stop (or enough to get to the next Supercharger...
