    Software Update 2018.39.x (Version 9)

I also just went from 36.2 to 39.7 this morning. It looks like the floodgates have opened up, with lots of people getting 39.7

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

This video has a lot of detail about the OEM 20" Tesla wheels that you get with the PUP, and why many aftermarket wheels aren't going to work with the special brake hub, rotor, and larger Brembo calipers that you get with the PUP. I want a set of aftermarket wheels that I can mount dedicated...

Biggest Positive and Negative Surprises About Model 3 AWD Performance Version

I was unpleasantly surprised that it doesn't have XM-Sirius Satellite radio. I got very used to that in my 2013 Model S P85. I know I can stream it from my phone over BT, but if I don't have a decent cell signal, that doesn't work. That is one of the beauties of satellite radio. Other than...

You must be David, of DAErik fame, since he recounted the same story on a recent video. Regardless of that, its great you were helping out!

While on vacation should I leave my Model 3 plugged in or not?

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. It doesn't take more power to charge if the battery is at a higher charge level. The charge rate tapers off (less current goes in) as it get's closer to a full charge, which it means that it takes longer to gain each mile of range. The Model 3 LR...

While on vacation should I leave my Model 3 plugged in or not?

Tesla recommends that you always leave your car plugged in if possible. Also, there is no need to dial the charge limit back to 50%, ever. Its not going to help your battery life. The default, non-range charge setting is perfectly fine to avoid hurting battery life from doing a range charge on...

Questions from a prospective Model 3 performance owner

Despite your protests, your biggest issues seem to be driven by economics and perhaps a sense of entitlement. Tesla low-balled your trade-in, Tesla wouldn't give you a big enough discount on a demo vehicle. You might not get free Supercharging. Tesla wouldn't kiss your ass in some other way "to...

Questions from a prospective Model 3 performance owner

Your initial questions and follow-up post are sort of in conflict. Nation-wide, Tesla appears to have very strong demand for Model 3s, including the Model 3 Performance with all of the options. There are also many extremely positive reviews of the Model 3 Performance from both established car...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

My advice is to NOT try to use high performance summer tires in any snow (despite having AWD). Summer tires are absolutely worthless and actually dangerous in snow due to the rubber compound, tread pattern, etc. Having AWD helps a little as far as getting started, but not with braking and steering.

What happens to my deposit and down payment if Tesla runs out of cash?

I don't think we've seen any evidence that reservation cancellations are running higher than new orders/configurations coming in. Despite all of the trolling on forums and in the corporate media, Tesla is still an aspirational brand. I think the Q3 numbers will be extremely good, and will...

What happens to my deposit and down payment if Tesla runs out of cash?

I too have a "classic" P85, that is even older than yours. I don't feel any need to compare the size of our bank accounts or investment portfolios (which is irrelevant for this discussion). As a long time Tesla owner/observer/"finance guy", you should know better than to actually think that...

Colorado waiting room - M3 Performance AWD or non-Perf AWD

Pretty much everyone you talk to at Tesla will give you a different story about nearly anything you ask about, which is pretty frustrating. All the employees I have talked to are friendly and eager to help, but I think there is a lot of internal confusion going on. At the same time, the...

    It’s here!

The charge rate of a Supercharger (or any charger) slows down quite a bit as the battery get closer to a full charge. What you'll find if you do road trips in a Tesla is that you will want to only charge to maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of a full charge at each stop (or enough to get to the next Supercharger...

Colorado waiting room - M3 Performance AWD or non-Perf AWD

Its not really a tent, it is a lightweight metal building. They are not painting in "the tent". The paint is not going to be "wet" in final assembly. There are plenty of videos of the interior factory if you are curious about this stuff.

Yeah, same for me. I just took delivery yesterday. No spoiler or badge. They are supposedly coming in "two to eight weeks".

Colorado waiting room - M3 Performance AWD or non-Perf AWD

They just took note of the scratch, and took a picture of it. They said "two to eight weeks" on the spoiler and the dual motor badge, so I think the real answer is that they don't know.

Here is some other information that might be useful. The car comes with the chrome Model 3 rear license plate frame (the same one they sell for $40.00). I took delivery of my Model 3 Performance (PUP, EAP, FSD, Multicoat Red) today at Littleton. It went pretty smoothly. The only defect I noticed was a very tiny scratch on the left passenger door, near the door handle. The panel gaps all looked just fine to me. The car was very clean. So much...

This is the same type of post (from the OP) that we used to see 5-6 years ago when I first got my Tesla Model S P85. A new member has some lurid story about how terrible something was, but they are short on details, and refuse to provide any photos or other evidence when challenged. The fact...

Rented 85kw for 3 days during Super Bowl.. Opting NOT to buy

Yes, his original post and his many responses remind me of some of the comments I often see anywhere there is ever a story about a Tesla on the internet. There are almost always comments along the lines of "Talk to me when the Tesla has a 500 mile range, can charge in 10 minutes, and costs...

Rented 85kw for 3 days during Super Bowl.. Opting NOT to buy

The OP seems to think he knows more about a Tesla Model S than a large group of actual, well-informed, long-term Tesla Model S owners. He refuses to be educated on the many incorrect statements he has made about range, charging, "batteries being bricked", and how the Tesla battery warranty...

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 Snow Tire Report

Very nice Cottonwood! I was going back and forth between the Nokian Hakka R2 and the Michelin X-ICE Xi3, so it was very timely to see your test results and driving impressions. What Version of Homelink Does the Model S Have?

Does anyone know what version of Homelink would be in a May 2013 production Model S ? Apparently, Homelink transitioned from Version 3 to Version 4 in late 2011/ early 2012, so I am guessing that a 2013 Tesla Model S would have Version 4. Some forum posts I have read indicate that is the case...

    What happened to TMC

I think the Model D controversy is already starting to die down. No matter what your opinion on the matter, there is no reason to attack other forum members. Maybe this is just a cultural thing that I will never be able to understand. I honestly don't get the sense of entitlement that so many of the commenters in this thread seem to have. Certainly a lot of complaining from Hong Kong about the P85D. You can complain all you want, maybe it will make you feel better, but I don't think it will change anything. You got (or will soon get) exactly what you ordered and paid for. Your Tesla will be still be quite rare and special in...

    P85D - NEW Seats Announced - Finally!!

Unless you just have to have one of the first P85D vehicles, I would wait a month or two to order. California bill to requires landlords to allow EV Chargers to be installed

I think it is telling that the most concerned commenters have admitted that they have not even read the bill in question, yet they seem pretty eager to jump to negative conclusions about it. I am also pretty surprised that nobody has brought up UN Agenda 21. A law like this must be related to...

California bill to requires landlords to allow EV Chargers to be installed

I would also make the argument that a Tesla-owning, presumably pro-EV landlord might want to consider watching EV adoption rates over the next few years. Based on that, you might want to proactively offer some charging infrastructure in your properties as a competitive advantage to attract...

California bill to requires landlords to allow EV Chargers to be installed

I don't see what this has to do with any overblown fears of a nanny state. It is fairly common for prospective Tesla owners who are renters to be stymied by this issue. Maybe you think someone who rents shouldn't have a Tesla? This will be more of a big deal when the Model III is available.

Mouse in Frunk - Warning: Graphic Picture

There is quite a debate in the Amazon reviews for this product about whether or not it is inhumane. It apparently strangles the mouse, and they take a while to die. I am not as concerned about a mouse suffering (situational ethics?) as I would be about most other animals, but I don't think I...

No to mention that they probably could have backed up so that the bike rack and bikes were between the SC posts (since they should not be wider than the car).
