yes you need snow tires. But, importantly, the drift and drive of AWD Teslas is not like old school 4x4s nor suburus. To be clear, it is excellent... but there is a bit more nuance in the drift. Best advice is go to a parkinglot on a snowy day, and feel it.. try and make it slip... learn...
