    2018 AC compressor failure?

I got an odd sound on my ac compressor and now consistently is making a rattling sound when powering off. Anyone else having issues or had to do AC compressor replacement? Video I quickly took of compressor shutting off: 2018 Model Dual motor, September 2018

Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It

Well, sort of. I was saying the hpwc contains control electronics that are normally powered by AC from the plug. That ac is converted to dc to power the control electronics and relay inside the hpwc. So with that in mind if you fed the hpwc something around 160vdc it might run with no issues...

Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It

I apologize I realize now what I said was confusing (will edit if I can), I was referring to the rectifier in the low voltage control circuit of the hpwc. It has an ac to dc converter that would likely happily operate on dc given it generally will pass through a rectifier stage. The relay and...

Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It

too low for the charger or hpwc activate. Both devices will have a rectifier that converts to dc. When powered with dc they just pass the dc through instead of rectifying. But you may be right about damage, not sure what electronics maybe be expecting ac. A lot of assumptions you made there. I...

Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It

Hi Fronhofer, I’ve been wanting to try DC also and was thinking maybe your DC voltage was too low to work. 120vdc would only be equivalent to somewhere around 76vac. That would be below the 90v threshold of most devices. Any chance you are willing to try something higher! I am working on a...

    Charging near Thunderhill Raceway, California

I wanted to post some information regarding Thunderhill charging for anyone heading out there in the future and this seemed like a good place. I went to the Thunderhill last month for a track day and knew they had ton (more than ~70) 14-50 plugs onsite however I did not expect to only be able...

    Speed bleed brakes info

Thank you Android04 for posting up this information. I was still questionable about what would fit but went ahead and purchased the Russell/Edelbrock 639630 for about $6.50 each. They fit on front and rear on a Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor non performance with the 18" wheels. I did my bleed...

48 amp wall connector on 50 amp circuit for track days?

I’ve done 48a at the Sonoma and Laguna seca 14-50s. My though was the same as op, not continuous load. No issues with nuisance trips. Too bad most 14-50s at the tracks are 208v circuits, we could use the additional power! I’m using an old juice box for my field charging.

    Tesla M3 Cabin Noise

I would be willing to bet tesla was trying to save weight. You can do thick glass and more sound deading but it all comes at a weight cost (and monetary cost of course too) You could do something like dynamat the vehicle and add the seals. To mat the whole car you would be looking at about...

Refuel 2019 Track day Roll Call

That is a quite the setup! Looking forward to see your laps times! The charging situation is pretty good. 14-50 plugs all over but only 208v. OpenTrack insurance was impressive inexpensive compared to the competitors. $50K = $223 with taxes and fees, 10% deductible. Anything less than that...

This weekend on June 30th 2019 is the annual Refuel electric vehicle track day at Laguna Seca is Monterrey, CA. I have gone the last couple years but this will be the first year going with my Model 3! There may still be room to sign up and go. You can always show up to spectate and for $20...

    Clicking noise when accelerating

I had my service performed at the service center and they replaced the axle nut. The sound was back about 2 weeks later. I pulled the service manual section on disassembly/reassembly of the rear end so I may just try tightening it up on my own next rotation. However if I recall correctly the...

    Tesla Parts purchasing?

I have not. I actually machined a new portion of the clip that broke off and screwed it to the piece that was still good. I also modified the design some to allow removal with out breakage. This way I can remove with out worry for trackdays.

255 tire options with 18” wheels

Yah I was all set to buy that one but it turns out the 255 40 18 of the Pilot sport AS3+ is only 95 load index. The model 3 needs 98 or greater. :-/ I guess I could go that tire if I drop down to 245 with 45 sidewall
