I covered the button with the large round top off an used Walgreens prescription bottle. Like the one in the photo below. It snaps right over the square protection shield and stays put with no fasteners needed.

Thanks for the comment. I never mentioned before that I replaced the tires with over 50,000 miles on them and they still had decent tread. Also I had very little wear extra on the inside of the tires when on the rear. I did rotate every 5,000 miles and used the low setting on the air...

Try using "Range Mode". Also, I am getting much more range from my "2017" 100D at 75MPH then you are at 65MPH because I am running 19" Slipstream wheels from a Model S with 245X55x19 Michelin Defenders. A plaid running 22" wheels and tires is not going to give you good range no matter what you do.
