Tire alignment recommended with new tires?

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the input. I'll skip the alignment and just pay attention to how the car is doing.

Tire alignment recommended with new tires?

Hi. My 2019 model 3 LR RWD has 30K miles, and the technician told me the treads are worn to 3/32 and I need new tires soon/now. I've had the tires rotated about every 12K miles and they seem to feel the tires have been wearing without any abnormal wear pattern. Regarding wheel alignment when...

Tidal and in car audio with 2021.40.x

Thanks for reporting on this! Would you mind giving an example or two of songs/tracks that sounds different between Spotify and Tidal? I have Spotify and am thinking of a trial subscription to Tidal and I'd like to compare them.

Tidal and in car audio with 2021.40.x

Thanks everyone for this discussion. I have Spotify and I'm considering a trial subscription to Tidal. For people that notice a difference in sound quality, would you mind posting which album/song you notice the difference? I'd love to hear it for myself to help decide if I keep one or the...

Software update required contact tesla service

Hi. They did not charge me, but note I'm still under warranty. If you're not under warranty anymore, it seems reasonable to suggest that they should not charge you - they tried to update the software on your car, and it didn't work out. Good luck!

Thanks, appreciate that information! I'm pretty sure all those conditions have been met. I'm waiting to hear what the service center says. Appreciate everyone's input!

Can't lane change to the left with FSD subscription

Yes, thank you. I did look at the image from the left repeater and it looks fine. The good thing to come out of this is that I've had my car for more than 2 years and not known what name to give it. Now I think I'll look for a name referencing the movie Zoolander.

Can't lane change to the left with FSD subscription

Thanks. In my several hours of testing today it's not once changed to the left lane. Heading north and south. Took it to a car wash in case one of the cameras was dirty. And weirdly, no error messages. And autopilot otherwise working fine. Thanks for all your help. Seems like I should bring...

Can't lane change to the left with FSD subscription

Yes, thank you. I am pushing it all the way down, through the 2 clicks. Also, when it wants to do a lane change to the left to pass a slower car, it asks for my permission. Regardless of whether I use the left or right stalk to confirm, it never does the lane change.

    Dashcam keeps disconnecting

That's weird. mine just started doing that today too. I have a Sandisk extreme portable SSD 500GB, with 2 partitions, one for music and one for dashcam. Both formatted FAT32. Today the car started saying the SSD is not formatted properly for dashcam. I'd unplug it, and plug it back in, and it...

Can't lane change to the left with FSD subscription

Hi. I'm sure I'm just being an idiot, appreciate people's input. I just subscribed to FSD in my model 3, and went into the settings and turned on navigate on autopilot. I was under the impression that when autopilot is engaged, if I turn on my turn signal, the car will change lanes accordingly...

Software update required contact tesla service

Hi. Sorry, only just checked back. I scheduled a service center appointment via the app. They installed the software (same version) during the visit. The worker told me that when this happens you have to bring the car in to the service center to get the software installed. (As with everything...

Software update required contact tesla service

Thanks everybody. It does seem to have completed the install. The version under software is 4.18.2. Currently I have an appointment with the Tesla service center for Thursday although it would not surprise me if they called and then tried to address it remotely.

Software update required contact tesla service

Hi. My model 3 just updated to 2021.4.18.2. When I got into the car after the update, there's a red triangle with an exclamation point, and a constant notification "software update required contact tesla service." There's no option for me to try to install another update. Rebooting the car did...

California DMV - Plates & HOV Stickers

I apologize if this has already been answered, I was unable to find it. Regarding sticker placement, does anyone know which is correct: small stickers go in front and rear bumpers on the right, or the small stickers go on the left and right of the front bumper? The printed instructions I...

    Supercharger - San Francisco, CA - Geary Blvd. (LIVE 20 May 2021, 16 V3 + 18 Urban stalls)

Ah thanks for clarifying. Hope I didn't break anything. :) Still, very happy that it's at the "pre-final" inspection stage. This seems to indicate that it's finished construction and also that PG&E has done their part.

    Supercharger - San Francisco, CA - Geary Blvd. (LIVE 20 May 2021, 16 V3 + 18 Urban stalls)

Well I stopped by there today and all the cones were removed, as if all construction was finished. I was the only one there. Plugged into a V3 charger briefly and did receive a charge. Only 20kW, which I assume was because my battery had not pre-conditioned and it's state of charge was in the...

    Supercharger - San Francisco, CA - Geary Blvd. (LIVE 20 May 2021, 16 V3 + 18 Urban stalls)

Cool. I was there over the weekend and it seemed generally finished. Except oddly 1 of the (out of 6 total) L2 chargers does not have visible conduit going to it. Perhaps they fed the wire through the floor? Also I noted metal posts placed near some of the superchargers and the V3 transformers...

    Supercharger - San Francisco, CA - Geary Blvd. (LIVE 20 May 2021, 16 V3 + 18 Urban stalls)

Looks like more progress. The pedestals for all 18 urban chargers seem installed now. The 16 V3 pedestals have been installed for a while. The 6 level 2 chargers have poles to mount them on, and the conduit seems in place for them. There's a few pipes visible in the floor where I assume they...

    Supercharger - San Francisco, CA - Geary Blvd. (LIVE 20 May 2021, 16 V3 + 18 Urban stalls)

Looks like there's some activity. I asked one of the workers when it would be finished but he really didn't know ("not too long but not too soon either"). I also saw a van and truck in the parking lot 1 level below (at the level the Best Buy used to be at) that seemed to be a part of the work...

    Recalibrating the battery

Does anyone know where she found this guidance on re-calibrating the battery? I've tried to google it, looked at Tesla's website, and also looked in my model 3 users manual, but can't find any relevant references. I'm sure I'm just being dumb. Thanks in advance!

How important is home charger really?

I'll just add that I don't have home charging and use a combination of charging at work, destination charging when there's no pandemic going on, and supercharging. It's quite doable. I know others who do the same. I've enjoyed meals from the California Kitchen at the Monterey supercharger, and...

EAP (Enhanced Auto Pilot) for $4k. Who’s in?

I was wondering if people think the automatic lane changing (with supervision) is safer than a normal human driver. With the regular autopilot I suspect driving is safer if the driver is also paying attention - you have the human and the computer trying to avoid a collision. If's it's safer, I...

    Need help with buying decision

Just want to echo this, and also recommend keeping in mind that as the battery ages there may be some range loss. The current warranty is 70% at 8 years. So I'd recommend the LR as well, so there's a buffer should cold weather or battery degradation take away some range.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

So I was hoping to check in on the current recommendation to try to re-calibrate the BMS. I don't have home charging which makes it a little harder. My process would be something like this: Charge the car to 90%, drive home at which point it would be at about 88%. Let it sit overnight. Then...

    Camping Charging question

Also, regarding TT-30, I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TO1D48/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's not ideal in that it takes a circuit that can deliver 30 amps and allows you to plug in your 5-15 plug and therefor only draw 12 amps (the max continuous...

    Camping Charging question

Just FYI I've charged my model 3 with 120V, 15 amp input and it was no problem. This was in the Sierras during July, with daytime temps in the 90's and evening temps considerably cooler. cabin overheat protection was on. I don't recall how fast it charged but I likely got close to 3-4...

Charge to 90% or 80% daily?

Thanks everyone for all the great information in this thread. I had a question about the link posted by Zoomit (thanks for this!) regarding brick balancing occurring when the brick with the lowest voltage is charged to above 4.0 volts. From that link, from the service manual: To mitigate this...

My Rated Range varies with temp change...

I've got a hypothesis, based on nothing. So if I'm off or otherwise got this wrong, apologies ahead of time. Presumably the car can measure fairly accurately the amount of charge (kwh) that goes into the battery when charging. And, presumably, it can measure the voltages of the battery cells...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.2.1 - new HOLD mode and other features

Just to chime in - I also love the new hold mode. One thing about roll mode is that when the car is stopped and the brakes are on "hold," if I accidentally tap the accelerator or the brake pedal, it will release the brake hold and the car will start rolling (if on a hill). And given how quiet...

PSA: check for rust at this point

Just a quick update. I brought this to the Tesla service center and they promptly acknowledged it as an issue ("not within Tesla spec") and acknowledged it could lead to rust. They're fixing it under warranty. They did something to bend the front quarter panel and now there's a few millimeter...

Not able to charge at home....new perspective on EV ownership.

I also have a 3 hour limit for charging at work. If I need it, I park in an EV spot in the morning, charge for almost 3 hours, then move my car. Then, later in the day when I estimate I'm about 3 hours from being able to leave work, I go out and move my car back the the charger and charge for...

if Supercharging was free...How much would you use it? Battery health concern

I don't believe I've ever seen any conclusive answer either. An additional consideration might be whether the supercharger is an "urban" supercharger, which restricts charge rate I think to 72kw. Some Tesla's (I believe some versions of model S/X) have had their DC fast charging rate...

PSA: check for rust at this point

So I'm assuming this would be a warranty issue? Would the way to address this be to schedule a service appointment on the app and then tell them I think is should be covered under warranty when I go to the appointment? Thanks.
