I think it might also depend on if it's a used 85 that pre dates autopilot hardware and various convenience features. If those differences don't matter to the specific buyer, then it's a great option. Another thing to to keep in mind is flurry of build quality improvements that have been noted...

The lumber is, but I believe the side bolsters are not. The lumbar can be adjusted 4-way--in and out and up and down.

Lumber support is via an air bladder inside the seat cushion--like typical car seats. i loved the side bolsters most though. Very comfy and keep you in place.

My weekend car is a 911. I found the NG seats as a must--was too used to the sport seat side bolstering and felt that the NG seats offered that while the standard ones did not.

2 weeks for production?! Wow. I would imagine that to be pretty conservative. No Tesla experience, but with my orders from other brands, a week was usually the rule of thumb.

Maybe next time! I would, but we have young kids and my wife already indulges my auto obsession as it is. Perhaps for the NEXT Tesla... ;)

I hear ya. I only do about 20k miles a year, but I feel like going in every 12,500 is overkill. That's every 7.5 months. I figure going in once a year makes sense and spending $600 a year is better than spending $1,900, but having to cram in 4 visits within 50k miles.

Typically, do owners allow the dealer to do the initial wash / detail on the car upon delivery? Usually, on other brands, I've asked the dealer to simply peel off the transport film and perform a light wash only--because I've had bad experiences with swirls etc embedded by a poor dealer wash /...
