    Pedestrian Warning System

I originally thought that all cars from July 2019 had to emit a sound but the European Commission's own website makes it as clear as mud. A new Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/1576 mandates that all new types of electric and hybrid cars to be fitted with a new safety device as from 1...

    Tesla App Graphics

Silly me. Never thought of that because when it is on my drive sometimes it is charging and sometimes it's not. Yes, the doors show opening which is what I saw.

    Tesla App Graphics

I only recently noticed a couple of things on the Tesla app relating to the car. Firstly it sometimes shows my car from front left and other times from rear left. Can't work out if it's related to anything specific or just random. The second thing was when I checked the app to see if my wife was...

    Are Teslas stolen?

Not sure about latest S & X but the model 3 key fob cannot be accessed by relay attack as it turns off after 5 minutes without movement. My phone is not enabled and the key card really does seem to be very near the car too work. The key fob is quite effective as well as I have had to shake it to...

This is still a problem for me in the UK. Netflix and Twitch work fine but Youtube doesn't.

UK Tesla meet up at Caffeine & Machine

Hope to be at the next one but love to know how everyone managed to arrived with car gleaming. Mine is permanently covered in mud even though it gets washed twice a week. Maybe it might be drier in the summer?

Leaf completes 230 mile autonomous drive

If you search for Mobileye on youtube you will see how the system works. From memory they have mapping six million kilometres per hour from their motor partners and have mapped virtually all of Europe. Their channel shows a car being driven in heavy traffic avoiding opening doors and poorly...

    'Voice Commands' in latest 2020.4.1

The only command that works on my model 3 is open glovebox. Not really much use!

Why doesn’t Tesla include fixed speed & red light camera map locations?

In parts of Europe having that information displayed (speed cameras) is illegal.

    My pod-point experience

I would echo menzic's experience. There was always a delay in responding to queries and then the installer texted me the night before to say he was ill and Pod Point would be in touch. When I rang Pod Point I spoke to a woman who told me the installer was on his way and would be with me shortly...

    Y ordering in UK

As Elon said recently, European Model Y's will be made in Giga Berlin and I would suspect we won't get any American made RHD versions as the factories will be working flat out to fulfil all the American Model Y orders. I would be very surprised if the Giga Berlin factory is built as quickly as...

    Tesla vs Others' "Autopilot"

I am not foolish enough to believe it wasn't a preset route but the ability to think on the fly was definitely not planned. Navigating around an open door, giving way to a car manoeuvring and pushing out into traffic from an unsighted position certainly looked impressive.

    Tesla vs Others' "Autopilot"

Whilst there are no production cars with the latest Mobileye I was very impressed with their latest demo driving around a busy city centre hands free. I know Tesla capture data from our cars but they have six manufacturers collecting six million miles of data PER HOUR. If the demo video is to be...

    Meanwhile, at Grantham...

I know Grantham and it is not someone using the bay for parking as the chargers are some way from the facilities and the car park rarely fills up. I genuinely think it is someone who knows nothing about their car and will sadly find that they have not charged and probably blame a faulty charger...

Subaru's eyesight seems to work better than Tesla's AP

I love my M3 but find it sadly lacking in both TACC and AutoSteer as it is called in the manual. TACC still likes to phantom brake which means it is not safe to use with close following traffic. AutoSteer is okay on highways (motorways) but struggles on many other roads and certainly keeps the...

    Aero wheel covers in carwash

I would also be careful with the jet washers a lot of places use. Some are very powerful and Tesla don't recommend using jet washers on certain parts of the car.

    2019.40.50.1 voice commands UK

Interesting how these things vary. My voice commands don't work at all on LTE and on wi-fi it will occasionally open the glovebox which is the least useful command anyway! I have tried all the various reboot options with and without the usb dashcam and nothing yet. Hoping Tesla get a fix before...

    No software update in awhile....

Hopefully they are fixing the bugs in the last update as a lot of people do not have any voice commands including navigation. Whilst I like my car and enjoy the fun part it would be nice if some proper upgrades were added before more games and streaming services. A decent navigation package...

    Recommend dash cams

I got fed up with Sentry Mode constantly waking the car up and draining the battery and then realised that the SD card is large enough to record days of camera footage without triggering Sentry Mode. I know Tesla limit this to one hour of video but the files are all on the SD card and there are...

Not quite sure why you're doing that as stated before, all features are included over LTE at the moment so no need to use your mobile hotspot.

Text message asking to confirm purchase agreement

I received the same message by email. I didn't respond because it asked me to reply if I collected the car on a specific date and I didn't collect it that day so no reply. That was on 27th December and a month after collection. The return email ([email protected]) seems to be genuine...

    Sat. Nav. Suggestions

Thanks but I can use Google with my phone. I was hoping for a browser version that would work on the Tesla browser. Giving it some more thought I wonder if any would work because there may be no GPS connection to the browser.

thanks for that but ABRP does not allow road selection, only waypoints which don’t work for what I want.

    Sat. Nav. Suggestions

So far the only sat nav I have found that allows me to exactly plan a route is My Maps and then download to Google Maps. I know that some software uses waypoints but they all still route their own way. The reason is I like to explore certain roads/villages/towns and so plan at home on my desktop...

Dashcam not working - Some advice please

I replaced my SanDisk adaptor as suggested and the dashcam is now working again. As BlueStarE3 suggested it must suffer from the heat. My new adaptor moves the microS~D further away. Many thanks for everyone's help. Link to adaptor below...

Dashcam not working - Some advice please

Thanks for that but I think I have done all the recommended things in that list and still no camera icon. What I find strange is that it worked fine for three weeks then stopped and the fact that the memory card is fully useable in any other device.

Dashcam not working - Some advice please

I have a Model 3 SR+ running 2019.40.2.1 I am using a SanDisk High Endurance 64Gb card in a USB adaptor formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32) on a Mac with a folder called TeslaCam. Since installing this it has worked perfectly for three weeks but I had to delete the Sentry files as the memory card was...

How do I know that I got 1,000 miles of free Supercharging?

I had exactly the same issue but went into a store and they informed the miles were on my account although it wasn't showing in the loot box. He told me that if I plug in to a supercharger and it doesn't ask to confirm my payment method then I am on free miles even though it will show a cost on...

Phone key issues - anyone just throw in the towel and use card or buy fob?

I was concerned about the distance I need to go to lock the car on walk away so I disabled it on the phone. Use the app for the rest but I was lucky enough to get two key fobs and they work perfectly. It is reassuring to just press the fob once and the car locks. Also quicker and easier to open...

Thoughts on Autopilot after a week of ownership (UK)

Both TACC and Autosteer are Beta and only for use on Freeways and Highways (In the UK I think that refers to motorways and dual carriageways). As such, using it on any other road is likely to cause concern. I know having tried it out around the area I live. I think we should forget the word...

My two biggest problems with the cybertruck

I think it will sell well but probably to the wrong people! It's not going to make the F150 owners change. The other issue is the safety aspect. Is it going to meet any safety standards as it has reverted back to 1930's standards of building it like a tank. Wouldn't fancy being hit by that.

Google Maps - “Pay for charge” function coming

I think you are mixing up Polar and Polar Instant. Polar Instant is a higher cost but uses contactless only whilst Polar is a subscription card allowing free or low cast charging. (I think!)

I rang Stockport Sales to check and they confirmed my final payment.

    M3 Pedestrian Warning Sound PWS

As far as I know it is not legal to have a reversing sound on UK cars. Only allowed on vans and above. We should only have the forward direction sound. Personally I think a sound on reverse is more useful than a forward facing sound.

    More Uk-bound Ships?

I too got my information last week for a 14th November collection but was warned they do not register the car until the day before collection so the insurance company may not accept the registration number because they can't check it at the DVLA. I got a quote which was valid for 30 days so just...

    1500 mile battery??

Sounds wonderful until you read the technical documents elsewhere. Yes, it will take your car 1500 miles but it is NOT rechargeable. The battery has to be swapped for a new one each time. Admittedly they suggest a 90 second swap and then the battery is recycled into a new battery with virtually...

Camera-Based Object Detection - The Limiting Factor to FSD

I do not have the knowledge to argue any particular point and in fact, as of today, I don't even have my Tesla. But, saying Waymo is far ahead is slightly misleading (I think) as they map a ring fenced area to give the car prior knowledge of fixed objects and road layouts. I assumer that if you...

    RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid

I have owned a RAV 4 hybrid for the last 3 years and would have originally gone for a plug-in version to replace it if they were in the UK. However, I think it is too little, too late. Whilst a great car (the one I currently have) having two motors to keep serviced doesn't seem the way to go. My...

    More Uk-bound Ships?

Just got my email and invoice but no VIN. Not in source code or on final invoice (unless I missed it). For everyone else's information I ordered a SR+ blue/black on 11th August to collect at Stockport. No tow bar and no FSD.

Waymo to customers: “Completely driverless Waymo cars are on the way”

Of course all these autonomous carriers use a different system to Tesla. They ring fence an area then map it to within an inch meaning their cars only have to avoid humans and moveable objects (Not an easy thing I know). Tesla want the car to be able to drive anywhere in the world and know how...

Do you drive with your fog lights on?

I would take exception to some of that article in Autocar and here is why. If you need to be seen then your headlights should be more than adequate. When foglights were first fitted they were replacements for headlights to improve visibility. Normal headlights reflect off the water vapour and...

RED Model 3 SR+, do I pay more UK Road Tax ?

Whilst I would love to not pay road tax I realise somebody has to pay taxes and as ICE cars diminish the revenue will go with it. Having said that I do think the luxury car tax bracket is set far too low now. I would be happy with a figure between £150 and £200 for the M3.

Possible explanation for UK delivery issues

I have been following many threads about the delivery experience and delivery dates. From little bits of information I have come up with an idea as to where the problems might occur for us, the customers. A number of people have commented on receiving texts from Belgium (I guess Zeebrugge)...

    Best home charger

For those who need some ducting I have 30 metres of flexible 50mm ducting on sale for £15 (Received more than I needed). I am having a Pod Point installed and they asked for the ducting to be 300mm below ground level. Not sure what other installers require. I am in the East Midlands about midway...
