I'll take it! Almost time to check again...

Are any of the tricks to force a software update real?

Understood. I personally find it fun to try to figure it out. Even if there's nothing I can do to make my car update sooner, its still interesting to me to figure out how the system works...

Are any of the tricks to force a software update real?

hmm... I can wake my car whenever I want via the app and it definitely pings the mothership when awake (you can see some car stats via API). When awake, data is pushed from a Tesla server which you can see if you use Teslafi etc. But I don't see any evidence that it is checking for updates on...

Are any of the tricks to force a software update real?

If your car is asleep does that make it more likely to miss an update (and therefore need to wait for that refresh time then check via the settings screen)? My car has been sleeping overnight and no updates, which if I understand you correctly could be because my car was asleep. If I was...

Are any of the tricks to force a software update real?

I guess that makes sense - that you're supposed to be instantly notified via push notification in the Tesla app when an update is ready. If a bug or coms issue or whatever prevents that from happening as expected, then the next opportunity would be via the software update page which checks 1x...

Are any of the tricks to force a software update real?

What do you mean you missed one? How can you miss one if the app notifies you when an update is ready and at that point it just waits for you to connect to wifi and download (so it would not need to check for updates at that point). Is there something I don't understand about missing one?

Are any of the tricks to force a software update real?

I've read so many tricks about how to force a software update (aside from just going to the software page the regular way which only seems to work 1x per day) and I seriously question whether there's any validity in any of them. For example: Hold down both steering wheel buttons to force a...

How to fit Michelin XT Silicone wiper blades on the 2021 Y's new wiper hardware?

I got the Michelin "Fahrenheit Silicon" wipers for my 2023 Model Y (20" and 26"). I also had a problem with the narrow "push button" adapter, it goes most of the way in but the push button never seats perfectly in the little square part of the Tesla wiper. In trying to get it to fit, I broke the...

Model Y Rear Bumper Repair or replacement

I agree with you about not putting up with shortcuts or workarounds, but when the local shop wants to keep my car for 2-3 weeks it starts to get really annoying and inconvenient. Even if I could get a Tesla rental to replace my car without paying a dime, I find a rental to be inconvenient (no...

Model Y Rear Bumper Repair or replacement

Leaving tge bumper at the shop and drive around without a bumper is an option I guess. Sure beats having it in shop for weeks. Agreed that the trunk door scratch can be done as a simple touch up pen. Not sure about settling outside of insurance. Depends what they pay me I guess. Local shops...

Model Y Rear Bumper Repair or replacement

Somebody hit my model Y and damaged my rear bumper paint while parking. They said their insurance will cover it. No structural damage that I can see. From what I read on this forum the repair should be simple as Tesla can just pop in a pre-painted bumper and call it a day for around $1,000...

Is it OK to install an aftermarket spoiler on MY LR after PPF serice

How is that EVbsae spoiler holding up. The carbon one seems to be the best deal right now at $200 shipped but wondering if its worth paying $50 more for one with better tape...

    The Bandit vs Slipstream Bracket

Could be! Anyway I ordered the Slipstream. Hope it was a good choice. Anybody have any experiences with it lately (good or bad)?
  14. J-a-x

    The Bandit vs Slipstream Bracket

Since the tape stayed on the car but not the bracket, I assume that Tesla cleaned the car properly but the bracket/tape was somehow defective? It came off while parked on a hot day in Boston so not sure if hot weather makes the tape fail. Luckily since I was parked I was able to grab the plate...

    The Bandit vs Slipstream Bracket

My dealer installed that for me and it fell off today, 6 months after it was installed. The double sided tape doesn't seem to last too long. The tape stayed on the car but not on the plastic bracket.

Is there any solution to the poor inductive phone charger behavior in Model Y?

Yeah all makes sense. I just wonder if there’s either some strategy or product to help me center it consistently or retrofit to make it more compatible with iPhones. Or even a new phone model that might be better aligned with the placement of the coils in the car.

Looking to replace my charging pad in my 2023 MY

Any luck on this, I just posted basically the same question.

Is there any solution to the poor inductive phone charger behavior in Model Y?

I use an iPhone 14 Pro. I have noticed that the charge mat in my model Y isn't as useful as I thought it would be. It's a great place to set my phone because I never forget it when its in plain sight and I don't care much about the charging speed but I almost don't want to put my phone there...

How likely is it that FSD-beta 11.x visualization will make it into standard AP and EAP

Why keep the current visualization which is incomplete when they could use a more complete visualization where software already exists (in FSD beta which one day will not be beta)? I find it a bit un-nerving when the current outdated legacy visualization shows incorrect information (like...

How likely is it that FSD-beta 11.x visualization will make it into standard AP and EAP

I tried FSD-beta 11.3.6 today (via subscription) and while the self-driving capability is very impressive, what really struck me is how much better the new visualization is compared to the stock visualization. For example I can now always see cars parked on the sides of the road, always see cars...

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

Yep installed, and then went on a drive with FSD beta right away!

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

OMG, my car is downloading the beta update now! Now once that downloads/installs, I guess I drive around in my car safely for X number of miles until I qualify with a safety score that is good enough to try FSDb?

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

I’m surprise that hoping it’s the only way to get into the beta program. Isn’t there a way to apply? Does Tesla send me the beta update first and then let me apply for the beta program or is it the other way around.
  24. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

Good question I recently installed the .9 release (last week?) and then sign up for FSD today. Not sure if the installation of a non beta release recently has any bearing on beta program acceptance. I assume there’s nothing I can do now to apply for the beta program. Just wait and it will...
  25. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

Yeah... hope I didn't jump the gun by signing up. I just wanted to be on the list when it goes wide rather than being late to the party. :) 56 installed plus 21 pending = 77 total. Will post here if I see that start to increase.
  26. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

TeslaFi only shows ~50 installs and ~20 pending so it seems like its still a very slow cautious rollout...
  27. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

Now I just sit and wait right? I assume there's nothing else I can do to "sign up" for the beta. The beta option in my car is greyed out like it was last time I tried...

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

So if I pay the $100 FSD subscription fee today, will I get the latest beta? Or is it another roll of the dice and maybe I’ll pay but get nothing but traffic light control, maybe I’ll pay and get to try FSD beta? (EAP owner here)
  30. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

Yeah I’m not saying a subscription costs $200 for those with EAP. I’m sayinng if someone without EAP pays $200 per month they get some good features over basic autopilot (equivalent to what I have with EAP). Better than I get for $100 per month (I learned the hard way).
  31. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

I paid for EAP and I quite like navigate on auto pilot and lane changes. I found it worth paying for so hopefully the $200 is worth it as well for a month. But yeah, you won’t necessarily get access to FSD beta.
  32. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

I have enhanced auto pilot, so I imagine you now have something similar to what I have. Go into auto pilot settings and enable navigate on auto pilot then go drive on the highway and you’ll notice that your car will now change lanes for you if it needs to do highway, interchange, etc. also turn...

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

I got upgraded again, now on 2023.12.5! From here, it looks like 2023.7.5 will be the FSD release meaning I may not be able to install it. Oh well... forces me to save $100 this month.
  34. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

Nothing, no evidence it has started rolling out. I'm actually glad so have installed 2023.12.1.1, it has some useful improvements and maybe more so than Tesla release notes state:
  35. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

I decided to err on the side of being more frugal and just told my car to go ahead and install 2023.12.1.1 which gives me cool scroll wheel shortcuts and prevents me from blowing another $100. If the stars align some day I still might try FSDb. I wonder how long until some of the improved...
  36. J-a-x

    FSD-beta 2023.6.15 rollout speculation

My car downloaded 2023.12.1.1 overnight. Have not installed yet but I'm considering it. Now I have to make the difficult decision of whether I hold off on the update and cross my fingers and hope for a 2023.6.15 beta is released publicly soon, or just install the update and accept that I won't...

That settles it then. Thank you and apologies if I’d came across as pedantic. :)

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Can you confirm on your car with FSD that when you select "AutoSteer (Beta)" it looks exactly like AutoSteer (beta) did before you got on the FSD-beta branch? I guess I had assumed that since there was a new single-stack for highway and city in the beta branch that the beta software would also...
  39. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Ah you're right, it does say Beta in my new ModelY with EAP, I forgot it was beta for everyone. I had assumed the "plain vanilla ships with every car" Autosteer was not beta and "FSD-beta software branch" had Autosteer Beta with some new behaviors for testing.
  40. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Or am I wrong and the Autosteer I'm using now is actually beta as well, in which case maybe it is the same as the autosteer beta in the "beta software release". If you enable AutoSteer beta on your car, does it use the same visualizations and driving behavior as the release version of Autosteer...

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Both Auto Steer and Full Self-Driving are listed as beta in that screenshot. So I am fairly certain that if my Full Self-Driving subscription lapses, I'm forced to use Autosteer (Beta). That I agree on. But what does Autosteer Beta mean and how does it compared to plain vanilla Autosteer my...
  42. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

That confuses me, because someone was saying that if I stay on the FSD branch I go back to the legacy highway stack when not subscribed, so in that case whether I am running a beta or a release version, in all cases when unsubscribed I would be driving with the same legacy highway stack. I'm...
  43. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

So both stacks are installed simultaneously and the car will switch between them depending on subscription status even without a fresh software install? FSD Beta software stack (nothing to do with NoA/Autopilot) Legacy NoA (Autopilot) software stack (nothing to do with FSD Beta) I thought...
  44. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Right -if you get off the beta branch it may be hard to get back on until the version numbers align (beta version > version installed).
  45. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Yeah this is what I was wondering. It’s single stack now so how can it revert to legacy when the subscription lapses like it used to? It seems to me that without a subscription the NoA in city would be disabled but since I paid in full for EAP it seems like NoA on highway (with new highway...
  46. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

Does that mean I’d still have the latest beta navigate on auto pilot on highways since I have a EAP but not autopilot on city streets?
  47. J-a-x

Behavior of latest FSD beta after subscription ends

My car has EAP and I want to try FSD beta. If I purchase a FSD subscription in the future I assume I can get into the beta program (once the 2023 FSD betas are going out at least). I am wondering what happens if I install FSD-beta with an FSD subscription and then decide not to renew my FSD...
