Firmware version on AP2 equipped cars in Australia

Just got it on a Wifi too, on a model S.

Firmware version on AP2 equipped cars in Australia

Did you get the update when in for a service, or just on wifi/3G? I think there are some roads that it makes sense on (fundamentally no more complex stretches than say, crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge which has narrow lanes), but also agree use on other types of roads doesn't sound wise at...

    More dash cam install notes

Take a look at my posts at Thinkware F770 - it explains how to get parking mode working, all by tapping into the power near the mic and the rear vision mirror. The only thing that doesn't work properly (for some reason) is WiFi on the F770.

Firmware version on AP2 equipped cars in Australia

No issue in changing it - if anything it is too precise a title for where the discussion has gone :) ie, a specific version being referred to, whereas this thread has turned into a discussion of which version AP2 cars in AU have received.

Firmware version on AP2 equipped cars in Australia

Looks like 17.9.3 is out in the US - maybe that's the build we'll end up with (skipping over the others). 17.9.3

Which version of AP2 are you referring to?

Firmware version on AP2 equipped cars in Australia

ev-fw.com shows that 17.7.2 has been rolled out to (at least 1 person) in Australia. Anyone here have it on their AP2 car yet?

    Model X Review

Careful going over the crests of hills too - I've had rapid breaking when on TACC. I think it detects objects (clouds, or trees) as other cars when going over the crest.

Newer VIN constant 12v power options (dashcam)?

Take a look at my posts in this thread: Thinkware F770 - that's what I'm using for my 770. If you manage to get wifi working on the 770 please post - both of us on that thread fine the 770 powers off shortly after WiFi being enabled for some reason.

    Thinkware F770

Glad to hear it helped! I haven't done battle with the wifi problem yet. My abstract ocean LEDs for the trunk are on their way too.

    Thinkware F770

I've just setup the F770 successfully with the switched wire (red with blue stripe) from my previous post. When I leave the car, after sometime (haven't timed it, but 15 seconds or so) I hear 'parking recording will now commence'. I get back in and it goes back to continuous recording after a...

    Thinkware F770

Thanks, good to know. I use wifi each time I want to check some footage on my other car / Thinkware - popping the card out is somewhat annoying but I suppose I can leave a microsd card reader in the car. I wonder if the current draw changes significantly when using wifi? The wiring I've done...

    Thinkware F770

Does your F770 record in continuous mode for a sustained period of time when on the microphone plug? I haven't gotten as far as leaving it in the car in a drive since I wanted to connect over wifi to position the camera correctly on the windscreen.

    Thinkware F770

I connected the F770 today with mixed success. When I connect my phone to it over WiFi the F770 powers off after a few seconds. When I do the same on a cigarette lighter powered setup it works fine. I'm almost inclined to think it can't draw enough current but it doesn't seem to be blowing a...

    Thinkware F770

Thanks for the tips. I've done a Thinkware install on a Mercedes AMG before - the rear turned out to be easy but involved running it up the A pillar, and just fishing it through to an access port near the trunk. I tried looking at the rear today and it seemed nearly impossible to get from the...

    Thinkware F770

Here's a photo I took during testing. The red + black wires you see hanging out are just breadboard jumper wires that made testing with a multimeter easy. Rear view camera wiring by ND100 posted Feb 13, 2017 at 8:50 PM The last 2 wires both look red in this shot. If you rotate the connector...

    Thinkware F770

I'm quite sure I've found switched 12V behind the rear view mirror on a HW2 Model S. Details: 1. Remove the plastic clip around the mirror. This is not the main camera housing plastic, but a small (roughly) U or L shaped piece. It is pretty obviously covering the back of the mirror itself. I...

Where to use autopilot (AP2) in Melbourne

The flakiness might be similar to what I'm seeing In Sydney: I've found that it works on the M1 if I enter via a certain onramp, but not on the same stretch of road if I enter from another on-ramp. It also (here) will happily drive into and through tunnels like the eastern distributor, but it...

    Thinkware F770

I'm interested if you find switched 12V in your car (sounds like you have HW2 AP?). I think the original post finding it was in an AP1 car. It's pretty hard to see the colors of the wires without unwrapping, and it seems Tesla change wiring colours frequently so I think it's going to take some...

    AP2 Shadow mode update

17.5.28 installed this evening. I went on a couple of short drives, but the camera was still in calibration mode. After a 20km drive or so I parked. Got back in an autosteer and TACC were available.

No update for me either. The car is on WiFi whenever it isn't being driven.

    Model X Launch In Oz

I've had two orders in the last 6 months and in neither case has a delivery date been shown in MyTesla. Currently I see: What's Next? Your Tesla has been built and is in transit from the factory. Learn about your Tesla.

    Blackvue DR650GW-2CH Install

I'm interested to find out if you found any switched 12V power in the mic area. (I'm planning to install a Thinkware, which benefits from having a switched power source to prevent continuous recording).

    Supercharger - Heatherbrae NSW

Pretty unique! Hope it all goes well for you. Mine didn't meet their indicated production date in November and literally didn't get on the boat that'd get it here this year. I'd say yours is likely the only AP2.0 car that'll be here until the first main AP2.0 runs arrives in mid January.

    Supercharger - Heatherbrae NSW

Pretty amazing you managed to get an AP 2.0 vehicle delivered this year. I was in (what I was told) was the first batch after 2.0 was announced and delivery is looking like early Jan. Did you switch a vehicle that was in production from AP1 to 2?

    HPWC install - isolation switch?

If LME are doing the install they'll likely refuse to install it without an isolation switch. I was advised it's a legal requirement.
  30. N

What do we want to know from the first person to get AP2.0?

Definitely keen to understand the best way to mount a dashcam in one. I'd be pretty surprised if the 12V behind the mirror is still the same given addition wiring needed for the front facing camera.

4 vs 8 camera, rear-view and blind spot detection

4 vs 8 camera, rear-view and blind spot detection

One possible 'out' Tesla have here is they describe "Side Collision Warning" as a "Standard Safety Feature". It doesn't make sense to have a worse performing safety feature just because "Full Self-Driving" isn't purchased. So, maybe they'd actually enable those cameras for that purpose only. I...

4 vs 8 camera, rear-view and blind spot detection

With today's announced updates, tesla.com/autopilot refers to a total of 8 cameras. The Model S ordering page makes it clear that "Enhanced Autopilot" comes with 4 cameras. "Full Self-Driving Capability" unlocks the other 4. What's not mentioned is which 4 are in Enhanced Autopilot. I'm...

    Tesla Now Offering Insurance

Has anyone had experience with Progressive insurance in Australia? Their quote comes in substantially cheaper than others (with a caveat their maximum insured value is $10k less than the purchase price on my new vehicle, which I assume is due to options/old pricing from Tesla). Also, QBE's...

DashCam Wiring - Refreshed Model S

I wonder how the "route the cable to the frunk" actually works out (hard to tell from those photos). I've also had luck in the past routing cables to the rear of the car by feeding from the A pillar to the rear of a car without removing the headline itself. I'm curious whether that's also going...

DashCam Wiring - Refreshed Model S

If you go down this path, how are people dealing with the fact that parking mode on many cameras requires use of both constant power and ACC-only power? Or are people leaving their cameras recording all the time/manually enabling/disabling? Also, does anyone know if the power connector in the...
