    Voice Commands

We also have a Discovery and the voice commands work ok with that. In in Tesla I tend to just use Siri.

Will/Could we see a Tesla M3P in BTCC

I don’t see why not but they would need to adjust the rules as I doubt it would comply. Not sure we’ll how it would survive the “rubbing” ate the electrics any more fragile. Reminds me when Volvo entered their estate car in BTCC in the early 90’s.

Tried making a call yesterday and the wing mirrors folded in!! Would it then recognise my voice to extend....I’ll let you guess!!!

    Voice Commands

How are people finding voice commands? Sat nav appears to work ok but voice commands for the telephone appear very poor. Over half the time it doesn’t recognise dial/phone and it’s even worse at recognising names. I’ve got to the point where I use Siri on my iPhone instead of the car!! On...

    Salary Sacrifice

M3P full self drive black with white interior £612 ex vat per month through Octopus (Tusker). That’s just over £300 per month in real terms using salary sacrifice. It’s in effect free when I take into account my fuel savings.

    Home charging

We have just passed the 1000 miles with our M3P. We had a large drive and garage with an ample power supply but have never charged the car at home. There are quite a few places near us where you can charge for free and also lucky enough to have a charging point at work. zap map is a good app...

    Model 3 Leasing UK

I was originally going to order the long range but the lease difference was £13 per month to upgrade to the P. You can guess which one I ordered.

    Payment at Tesla superchargers

Just need to add a card to your online account. The super chargers are then just plug and play. We have only done 600 miles to date and so far I have only charged at super chargers, Sainsbury’s and the office. I think we have “paid” £20 to charge to date. Our discovery would have been £150...

    Model 3 Leasing UK

I ordered my M3P FSD black with white interior through Octopus. They partner with Tusker but all my dealings were with Octopus. Order 29th September and picked the care up first week December. Car was visible on the web site a couple of weeks before collection.

Battery drain while parked or car in storage

We have a 3P and its been on our drive for the last week while we are away. The car is only losing 1 mile per day.

    Car disappeared from App

If anyone interested - solution was to delete and reinstall app. Ignore the warning that you will lose all data/history as everything was still there after reinstall.

    Car disappeared from App

This evening the car disappeared from the Tesla App, the powerwall is still present. Both are iphones and I have tried powering off and on but no luck. Any thoughts?

    Predicted Range

Only had the car 4 days but have a quick question on predicted range. I have my battery range set to distance and not % and it was displaying 150 miles. I also had the energy tab displayed and this was showing 135 miles. Is there a reason why there is a difference? Regards

    Performance Waiting Room

Picked the car up Thursday - still no idea how half of it works but really pleased.

    Performance Waiting Room

Ordered back in September - got the call last week to confirm collection on the 12th.

    Possible Model 3

Final decision made - gone for the performance model.

    Performance Waiting Room

M3 Performance Black/White with FSD. Not had a firm date but was told "should be end of October".
  22. SimonT

    Long-range or Performance

We were deciding between SR and LR and decided to go with the performance. Three reasons. It was only £10 more per month to lease. It’s on a 4 year lease so felt the top model would hold our interest longer. Range isn’t an issue for us - probably 20 miles per day on average.
  23. SimonT

    Possible Model 3

    Will do.
  24. SimonT

    Possible Model 3

Very good - to be fair my wife drove as technically it will be her car. We are just waiting for the lease quotes but we will be going for the LR AWD in black with white interior. We have requested a quote with and without the full self drive software.
  25. SimonT

    Possible Model 3

What do people mean by cold weather? Here in blighty we are usually between 10 and 20' (50 to 68f) for the majority of day time driving.
  26. SimonT

    Possible Model 3

    Test drive tomorrow :):):)

    White Interior

We are in final deliberations of the lease of a model 3. The last decision is interior colour. I quite like the white but with two small children the boss thinks it will show up all the dirty marks etc. If her current car is anything to go by it resembles a skip on wheels!!! What are peoples...

    Possible Model 3

Thanks for all the comments. The UK really is tiny compared to the US of A!!! My drive to the office is 8.1 miles each way so will genuinly be less than 20 miles per day. I do make the odd trip to our other sites which are a max 30 miles each way - say twice a week max. So in all less than 200...

    Possible Model 3

We are thinking of dipping our toe in the electric car water....actually that doesnt sound right but you know what I mean. It will be a second car probably only doing 20 miles per day. We have free charging at the office. Will be leased through business which has tax advantages in the UK...

Anyone regret having a Powerwall installed?

We have had the powerwall fitted for 3 months now. We dont use it for blackout protection - its not something we gernerally suffer from in the UK. Our Feed in Tarrif is roughly 1/3 of our buy in rate so there is no point in selling unused electricity to the grid - we are better off storing and...

Anyone regret having a Powerwall installed?

Tottally happy. In our experience they have improved the efficency of our panels three fold. Before the battery 3/4 of our solar production just went to the grid.
  32. SimonT

    New Powerwall

Two months in now and starting to get a few stats on the powerwall. We have been 77% self sufficent on power since install. This would have been only 35% without the powerwall so the PW represents a significant improvement. In July with the better weather we have been 97% and 42%. Part of the...

    Audi etron in person, disappointing?

The Jag just seems to cramped and the infotainment system, if its anything like my Discovery, is slow and buggy. Agree about the etron front grille but the car felt spacious inside, the sat nav and infotainment felt very top notch. Shame about the range.
  35. SimonT

    New Powerwall

PW has been running now for about 3 weeks with no glitches. My wife thinks I am sad as I am constantly glues to the app though!!! Main thing I have noticed is we have been on average 74% self powered (no gas) since the battery was installed. Without the battery it would have only been 33%...

    New Powerwall

As they are designed to be fitted outside I would like to think it shouldn't be a problem. The meter on the other hand....
  37. SimonT

    New Powerwall

Single phase. Even though we have an all electric house I think our usage is quite reasonable - 20 - 30khw per day depending on the season.
  38. SimonT

    Audi etron in person, disappointing?

Yes European distances are significantly less than US. I think I could go near two weeks between charges - excluding vacations.
  39. SimonT

    New Powerwall

Ok so we had the power wall fitted on Wednesday as quoted - as they had a little more fiddling with data so they didn't complete install until late in the afternoon. The images below are the first full day with zero charge remaining from the previous night.

You can also get “in roof” panels where the PV replaces a section of roof covering and sits in a waterproof tray below the roofline. Assuming a traditional roof.

Tesla Solar Panels on a Red Tile Roof

I saw some literature that showed a a selection of new Tesla in tile PV. The range included double Roman (barrel) roof tile. Apparently they have a hologram so from the ground they look like real tiles.
  42. SimonT

    Audi etron in person, disappointing?

None of the current electric cars are perfect - they all have strengths and weaknesses compared to the others. With better range the etron would be a strong contender. The ipace is too small and feels cramped inside. Tesla could do with a few more real world gadgets and slightly better build...

    New Powerwall

Powerwall being fitted on the 15th May - approx 6 weeks from order (UK) to supplement the 5.5kw PV system we have installed. I'll post some pictures when fitted.

    Weather and overnight charging

No - currently we get paid a "Feed In Tariff" the rate of which was determined at the time your solar was commissioned. The rate has been dropping steadily and I believe is being scrapped next year.....:(

    Help! Windshield cracked

Was at my local dealer today and noticed an X on the lot with a crack running dash to roof about 200mm in from the door pillar. Is this a common issue.
  46. SimonT

    Weather and overnight charging

Thanks - do you mind sharing which supplier/tariff you are on? Do you use the off peak rate to charge the battery or something else such as a car as well? From my limited research it looks like the solar powers the battery during the day then discharges at night when the PV stops working. The...

    Weather and overnight charging

We are thinking of having a powerwall fitted and have a engineer coming round Wednesday. Am I correct in that you plan do charge the battery using off peak electric? Is this in option or is it programmed into the software to always do this? I would have thought the most effecient way was to...
