Roadster parts coming back in stock?

Let me know what happens. I might have spoken too soon by saying the set is out for delivery. Until I see the parts, I won't believe it. I wish Tesla would be more communicative about the parts supply, new PEMs being produced, etc. The community of Roadster owners is so small—what do they have...

Roadster parts coming back in stock?

I check the Tesla Shop pretty frequently. Lately I have noticed that a number of parts that were out of stock are now available for purchase again. Carbon fiber door sills, carbon fiber hard tops, the Roadster High Power Wall Connector, and others. I just ordered the carbon fiber interior set...

    Roadster windshield availability

At an $18K purchase price, it is hard to justify. $18K becomes $20K with tax and shipping. Add $30K for a new battery and we're at $50K before even starting repairs, which will probably run another $20-30K. That's $70-80K.

    Does the 1.5 suport J1772?

I have charged my 1.5s with the J1772 CAN adapter, and two different Tesla adapters. No problems at all.

    Instrument binnacle replacement

To give an ending to the story—I followed the Elise instructions this morning and they worked. I was able to change the instrument binnacle with nothing more than a Phillips screwdriver. It does require a certain amount of jostling and a little force, though. But here's the finished product:

    Instrument binnacle replacement

Great idea, I should have realized it was the same process as the Elise. And there are tons of instructions on how to do it. Thank you!!

    Instrument binnacle replacement

Hi folks, I just got a carbon fiber instrument binnacle. Is there an easy way to remove the plastic one and install the CF one? Or is this something I should leave to the Tesla service center?

    The return of #483

I am, definitely. And a couple more Tesla logos will be added on in vinyl. I don't want people thinking it's a Lotus. ;)

    The return of #483

Wow, you met him. That's awesome. He did find another great car—a Model S. :)

    The return of #483

I started with the Tag Heuer Roadster and made some modifications. Daniel at Film Werkz was amazing. He sent me a photo almost every time he laid a piece of vinyl. Here's a progress photo he took. It was a fun, super collaborative process.

    The return of #483

Correct—no frame damage. As much as a hassle as it was, the accident worked out really well (for the car).

    The return of #483

It's been a long journey for Roadster #483 since I bought her in November 2015 with 110,000 (!) miles. Donald, the previous owner, took incredible care of her. Which was a relief, since I bought her with not much more information than the picture you see above. :) Unfortunately—three...

    Need Roadster Owners' Opinions

Chiming in here as the buyer and current owner of that 1.5. She had the battery replaced right before I bought her and I've added about 7,000 miles since then. The only issue was a failed switchpack that cost $750 to replace. I've been super happy with her. She's having some elaborate vinyl...

    Looking for a new interior

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! For those who had their interiors redone, just how pricey is pricey? :) @spiderguy Wow, I would never have guessed the door panels were painted! And I've seen that car in person. The seats look amazing too.

    Looking for a new interior

I have a tan interior on my 2008 Roadster, and I'm looking for black or black/yellow. Is anyone selling seats/door panels? Or would anyone like to trade interiors? :)

The next generation Roadster: not coming any time soon...

I predict Tesla will never make another Roadster. Elon is focused on revolutionizing transportation: first Model III, then heavy-duty trucks, high-density urban transport, and an autonomous fleet. Once Tesla does all that, a sports car like the Roadster will be an anachronism. The market won't...

    Looking to replace brake pads

Thanks wiztecy and Nvbob, that was super helpful! The biggest problem I was having was figuring out which pads would fit. But I think wiztecy's instructions led me to the right ones. I went to THMotorsports and ordered the 1521s because I am always cleaning the wheels. I also ordered the orange...

    Looking to replace brake pads

Hi all, I'm looking to replace the brake pads on my 1.5. I've seen many people using CarboTech pads, but my question is, which version or size should I get? I'm trying to get my trusted mechanic to do the work, and he's had a hard time finding pads that fit. Thanks!

Thinking of selling my Vette for a Roadster

The drivetrain is not repairable by anyone but Tesla. And to echo ecarfan, almost any repair is expensive. I just had a switchpack fail, which will cost $1-1.5K. A PEM failure could be $5-10K. Body work is similar. The carbon fiber body is very strong. But in a serious collision, it will...

    Roadster 113 Checking In

Congratulations, Tex EV! I have Roadsters #117 and #483. My dad has #858. I think they're the greatest cars ever made. I would learn to enjoy the attention, since it never stops. It has caused me to interact with people who I would otherwise have ignored. So that's fun. If you don't have them...

    #483 meets a Silverado

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! Habious—Chilton said that body panels are still available, but they can take months to get. They said that spare panels are "lying around the factory." Wiztecy, very true. I am a very defensive and cautious driver in the Roadster. I also have RLS ExtendView...

    #483 meets a Silverado

Sad, but true. I was driving down Charleston Rd near the Googleplex when a Chevy Silverado merged into my lane without seeing me. He damaged the left side of #483, and pushed her into a parked car, which damaged the right side also. The happy ending is that #483 will be totally repaired! The CF...

Roadster carbon fiber door sills back in stock?

Thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot to post the photos. I did the install myself in about 5 minutes. Here's how they look: I will probably put a 3M Scotchguard wrap around the silver scuff plates soon.

    Low Power System Service Required

To follow up on the question of fuses, how does one identify a blown one? I would love it if my problem were a blown fuse instead of a bad switchpack.

    Low Power System Service Required

ecarfan, I had the same problem a few weeks ago. #483 displayed a Low Power System error, along with a TPMS error. A few minutes later, I was able to start the vehicle, and both the TPMS and Low Power System errors went away. However, the radio and the heated seats no longer work. I assume this...

Carbon fiber door sills back in stock! [photos]

Go order them while you can! As for the scuff plate, I've heard how fragile it is. I might even take it to a local shop and see about adding a clear 3M vinyl covering for protection.

Carbon fiber door sills back in stock! [photos]

Continuing from this earlier thread: Roadster carbon fiber door sills back in stock? I randomly saw the door sills back in stock on the online store, so I decided to buy a pair thinking my order would for sure be canceled. Sure enough, Tesla delivered them one month later, brand new, to the...
