New Fast Chargers (Non-Tesla) Under Construction Along I-44 in Fenton, Missouri

We always stop at the Wallys for a charge when traveling past Pontiac. It's such a nice stop, you don't mind the slower charging speeds.

CHAdeMO compatible with 2021 Model Y?

We have a Leaf, and have seen many Model Y drivers using the Chademo adapter. If you are lucky enough to be near a free Chademo it may be slow, but it's low cost miles.

    The usual Battery Degradation Topic

So you drove 200 miles and ended with ~80 rated miles? That is very good for highway speeds.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Does anyone know why the 85s have done so well compared to the M3 batteries? (The 90s didn't do nearly as well, and I don't know about the 100s)

Blog Tesla Crashes into Cop Car After Launch of NHTSA Autopilot Investigation

The growing incidences is starting to make me think there is some possible malicious code in AP. The software is too good to make this many mistakes randomly.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Welcome to your new and now normal baseline range. 10% loss after a couple years is quite the norm.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Most evs lose 5% in the first year. The rated range isn't influenced much by driving style.

NA Model S refresh has an optional CCS adapter

Thankfully Chademo options are still expanding in NA, just not as fast as ccs now.

    CHAdeMO Charging the Model 3

I am hoping if enough Tesla drivers use the EA Chademo charger and complain to EA, we can convince them to add a second connector. The highway plazas are too convenient not to use, even at 50kW.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I think Bjorn's 2 M3 LR data points of 8% after 2 years is spot on. Miles/cycles matter a little less than age.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Guessing as you have an 18, the car has a buffer which masked your degradation in the first couple years, and now you are seeing the natural range reduction. Its more time and cycle than mileage.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Your curve should flatten. Some other poster that uses Teslafi posted a couple weeks ago that average loss in first 15k miles is like 7.8%. It should go slowly afterward. Most other evs are similar.

I try to stay between 35 and 65% , but don't stress about it too much.

    Honest question about battery degradation...

I wouldn't rely on rated miles as a measure of degradation as the constant used for rated miles changes with software releases. Generally the constant is lowered over time, which can boost perceived miles. It would be better to measure power you can pull from the pack.

Battery capacity loss and weird fluctuation.

Sorry, thst was for SR+ models, per user mrgoogle. Not completely surprised the SR+ does worse. I have heard rumors that the SR+ battery has wider sourcing so quality might be more...challenged. Getting pissed with degredation

Teslas With Rebuilt Title - Supercharging Removal

Fully agree. If it was just SC, then I think it would be difficult to argue, but all dc removal should be illegal.
  18. D

Battery capacity loss and weird fluctuation.

7.8% is the average loss for 15k miles per the teslafi fleet as another user posted.
  19. D

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

Correct may 1-2% per year after that depending on charging/driving habits.
  20. D

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

7.8% reduction is average for 15k miles for M3, so you are close.

I dont think so. Another poster showed that Teslafi shows average degradation is 7.8% after first 15k miles.

CCS and Chademo charging at local walmart

As long as you don't update the software onboard, how can Tesla prevent you from using the chademo connector and 3rd party DC charging? Be sure you have removed/damaged the cell card so its not communicating.

CCS adapter for USA available yet?

Chademos are still being installed daily. Still most installs have both ccs and chademo. In 3-4 years it might change, but for now you are fine with the adapter. So many new 200 Amp chademos going in now too.
  28. D

CCS and Chademo charging at local walmart

If you need to take more than a 3 mile detour, the extra travel time will Trump charging differences.

CCS and Chademo charging at local walmart

I dont see Tesla moving to Ccs in the US anytime soon, advantage is still to the Supercharger network. Chademo footprint is still expanding, so its enough of a bridge for any small coverage gaps.

CCS and Chademo charging at local walmart

A Chademo adapter is a simplier creature than ccs. It was originally stop gap as the supercharger network rolled out, but there are still areas of North America where having the adapter is still very useful. As Chademo has expanded, it oddly has almost increased in usefulness. Too bad its...

    CHAdeMO Charging the Model 3

It will be interesting to see if the Chademos start getting more used with the price increases. 4 of the 10 Chademos near my home (North side of Chicago area) are still free. The evgos are .20/minute. EA is now whatever they are charging per kWh.

  36. D

    Dc combo for USA port

I actually have both programs as we have 2 Leaf Pluses at the house. But nctc gives free power to all evs at the house. That said, its a lot of work to save the $2-3 in power vs. Charging at home. Its been nice on some trips though.

    Dc combo for USA port

Ccs to chademo is difficult.. Alibaba has chademo to ccs available for a few K. Honestly the chademo adapter is becoming more valuable as the number of Chademos stations has increased. For Leaf Plus owners many more 200 amp Chademo stations are appearing as well, making charging at 75...

    Does FSD reduce the range?

I can't speak to Tesla power draw, but I have measured the power draw difference in 2 Leafs, one with their Propilot and one base model without. The difference was few hundred watts per hour, or about 1-2 miles range per hour driven. Teslas are doing alot of data sharing even when not in...

Do Non-Tesla BEV Buyers Even Think About Level 3 Long Distance Charging?

Pontiac IL - New Tesla friendly independent DC charging

Thats a great Idea. Chargepoint, Evgo, Greenlots, etc are all going in with multiple Chademos, and more with available adapters. EA is missing the boat, and their chargers break all of the time.

    Getting pissed with degredation

Tesla does use the alternative EPA test procedure (which does not use the standard 30% off of udds tests, and allows them to provide a different smaller value). It would be good to know what their standard EPA numbers would have been.

What will be new range of model 3 after battery day?

I am guessing the SR+ goes away (too many battery issues), and the LR becomes now standard, and a new longer range version with 400-450 miles becomes the up sell. This will allow Tesla to up unit price to help please the market.

Anyone LR AWDs Showing 322 Miles Fully Charged?

Wow, it looks like Tesla picked up a few of the old Nissan Leaf techs. Your battery could be dripping Li-ion goo, and you would get a 5 star rating.

Ouch, if you were a Leaf, you would be soon down bar. Hope the battery stabilizes going forward.
