I ended up calling my building department myself. they came out and did the inspection the next day. all you need is the permit number that should be hanging outside or in the permit box

    Partial Home Backup App Question

you should be able to see the whole house power draw when the grid is up including the AC's that are not backed up and any other circuits that are not backed up. If the Grid is up, your AC's and any other non backed up circuits can draw from the powerwalls, but if the grid is down the...

Tesla Gateway and Powerwall - Converting to hard wired network

If I am not mistaken that NEO box is what lets the system communicate back to TESLA. Your gateway should have its own WIFI antenna to connect to your network. You can run an ethernet cable from the gateway to your wired network. My system has both WIFI and ethernet plus cellular connectivity.

Using a Credit Card or Paypal to pay for Tesla Solar

I had to pay for my additional Powerwall today. I added a credit card that gives me rebates to my funding options in PayPal, and I was able to use that as the funding source when I made the PayPal payment No Issue.

Tesla called me and told me I needed to upgrad my brand new 200A panel. Does that sound right?

So, in my install the breaker to the Gateway takes up 4 slots. Looking at your picture it looks like if you are only moving the 100a breaker you wouldn't have enough slots to support the breaker needed for the gateway. Assuming of course you would also need 4 slots available.

They went into my attic to run some conduit from the solar array to the inverters, to connect the Powerwalls to the other panels, and to run a CAT6 to my switch on the other side of the house.

    New PowerWall install woes

I have a 19.8...Kw PV with 3 powerwalls. I just watched my PV scale down output when the PWs got close to 100% and as soon as they went into standby it ramped back up. New install setup

I am not sure about the charging...I thought if you didn't have solar, you could charge PowerWalls from the grid. If the PowerWalls are set to Backup, there is no adjustment to the reserve %. That adjustment only exist in self powered mode.

    Powerwall Automated Load Shedding?

I think you guys are thinking about this WAY too hard. If @jimmyz80 does not what a WHOLE HOUSE backup, Tesla can design the system to only backup the circuits he wants. The other circuits will still take advantage of the Solar/Powerwall when the grid is up and he will still be able to offset...

Considering going with backup only vs self powered

Its about 1/2 that in FL. when it is hot, it is hot. In Central FL we only get about 2-5 weeks of "cool" weather where the AC isn't coming on. and on some of those days it can be in the 40's at night and in the 80's during the day.
  29. chrisbailey13

    Powerwall Automated Load Shedding?

When they set up the load panel, they can exclude the equipment you don't want to be backed up, but when the grid is up, that equipment will take advantage of the Solar/powerwall configuration. That is the simplest configuration.

Considering going with backup only vs self powered

It was a power Company issue. power was out 3.5 hrs. But the Powerwalls maintained 100% and kept the house going. Wasn't sure this would happen, but looks like the solar kept the powerwalls charged.

Adding an additional Powerwall in Florida

Talked to TESLA today...they said the install fees are pretty standard. I also asked about the permit fees. In my county electrical permits are $85.00 so why are they charging me $500.00? He said he would look into it and get back with me....

I had storm watch activated once a few weeks ago for most of the day. Stormwatch Active I am still not sure why, there was no bad weather in the area(other than it was cold). I was watching yesterday also, and didn't see it activate even though there were NWS warnings in the area.

  48. chrisbailey13

    Stormwatch Active

Nope. Stormwatch communicates with the NWS to know when severe weather is on the horizon and automatically triggers Storm Watch. This mode pushes the limits and charges Powerwall to maximum capacity so it can provide backup power. Maybe the cold was the trigger.
