Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

Although it makes sense to co-opt as much of an existing design as possible, I would think that the weight and passenger capacity of the robotaxi would dictate which existing Tesla model would serve as the template for the robotaxi. If the robotaxi is a smaller wheelbase vehicle, then it would...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon seems convinced that the only way to make a robotaxi profitable is to use creative manufacturing methods to reduce the cost of each unit. The present approach used by Waymo and others is to build a handcrafted robotaxi using an existing vehicle outfitted with a diverse array of sensors...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I went into service mode to see if I could figure anything out and sure enough, there was a warning that the disk was low on storage. That must be the bug, that the firmware thinks that the SSD is either full or nearly full. See what yours says in service mode. I looked at the SSD on my PC and...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'm not clear as to what you are saying no to. If not "finding" the drive was solely a software bug, more Tesla owners would be complaining about it. I opt for an explanation that the issue is a combination of a software bug and certain factors, including not only the condition of the drive...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I'm wondering whether sales could be improved by a targeted marketing campaign. What I don't mean is Tesla using traditional advertising channels. What I'm thinking is for Tesla to create an program that would target first time EV buyers of its lower priced 3 and Y models. First Tesla would...

I had that happen, but I switched removable drives, reformatted the replacement using that car's UI and Dashcam has been working for a week so far. The interesting thing is that when I loaded the original drive on my PC, it was perfectly fine and had saved ten videos from Sentry Mode.🤔

I wasn't trying to critique your example. I was trying to understand how Tesla would charge for unsupervised FSD.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That's a provocative post. Assuming the the single car liability insurance offered by Tesla is $1200 per year or $100/month. What you are saying is that the incremental insurance charge for unsupervised FSD is $299-99 or $200/month. What you are saying in essence is that FSD unsupervised has...

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

By Waymo's own statements, they have 250 driverless cars in SF, of which approximately 100 are on the road at any given time. In contrast, the average number of ride share vehicles on the streets in SF is 5,700 with a peak exceeding 6,500. There also hundreds of traditional taxis.

FSD 12 Has a mind of its own...

Basically, when navigation reaches the destination, FSD should be manually disengaged. I'd have to go out the car and check it, but if FSD is enabled and you hit "end trip" (Why you would do so is a mystery) then FSD proceeds without navigation guidance. It will continue straight until it...

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

I will predict that Teslas's robotaxis in the Vega Loop will have an incredibly impressive low failure rate per mile. Eh, so what?
  14. jabloomf1230

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

If you're going to continue compare Waymo to FSD, then you should standardize both datasets. Waymo operates in extremely limited geographic areas of the US and not on highways (except for testing purposes). FSD operates over the entire road network of the US and Canada.

    Israel/Hamas conflict

This so-called attack by Iran was designed only to test Israel's defenses and provide information on how to conduct future attacks more effectively. Secondarily, it was designed to appease hardliners in the Iranian government and military.

  17. jabloomf1230

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

Stop stating this as a universal fact. Waymo is Level 4 in extremely limited geographic areas and does not use highways. When Waymo covers an entire political jurisdiction like the US, then it can be considered as SAE Level 4.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

This worked for me, but it could have been just luck. Add a favorite location at the end of your driveway and call it (duh😄) driveway. Clear Home and then set Home to driveway. It helps to have the map set to orthoimagery, so you can place the point more accurately.
  20. jabloomf1230

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'm not saying that the release of 12.4 is imminent, but the availability of the April free FSD trial could influence when 12.4 is released. The free trial could just easily prevent a 12.4 release as it could cause it to be released.

If an additional camera is built into each headlight assembly and facing perpendicular to the driving direction, it should be possible to keep them clear without wipers.
  22. jabloomf1230

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Nah. Tesla doesn't put cameras in the front because it would add to much cost to each car, despite the fact that FSD would be much more aware of crosstraffic.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

You left out the main reason that I personally disengage. The navigation isn't always IMO, the best route. Tesla really needs to allow both dragging route nodes and saving a route as a favorite. The kluge of adding intermediate stops to a route too cumbersome to use.

psi reading on my tires is not accurate, car says they are 37-38 psi, I connected my compressor to it and it says 33.5 psi

Unless one has a "lab grade"<( tire pressure meter, one is comparing pressure sensors of unknown accuracy. And that's not factoring in the tire temperature and possibly even air temperature. As @RSpanner stated above, a few pounds here and there isn't going to matter. One of my other cars is a...

You stated that the number of situations encountered via video clips from the cars was not sufficient to cover all possible real word scenarios. My point is that video information is augmented by simulations to increase the possible scenarios that are encountered.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Unless the entire SAE standard language is embedded in a law, the law would be challenged as being "incorporation by reference". The reason this type of reference is not allowed is that SAE, as a private organization, could change their standards to something nonsensical.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

That's not a complete two lane roundabout. I can show the specific roundabout where FSD effed up and the signage shows that an outer lane "left," is one of the options.
  37. jabloomf1230

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The problem with this roundabout discussion is that a large number of drivers use the outer lane to use the 3rd exit (left turn equivalent). This choice is consistent with the signage and does create conflicts with drivers using the inner lane to do the same maneuver.

An update on multilane traffic roundabouts. 12.3 does marvelously in even heavy traffic when exiting the roundabout's 1st exit (right turn equivalent) and 2nd exit (straight equivalent) because it stays in the outer lane. However, when exiting the 3rd exit (left turn equivalent) it becomes a...

Good catch, but I have a feeling it might have been abandoned due to another existing patent. I did find a few more similar patents, but I'm not that interested in looking into the details. I won't repeat the V12 shortcomings that I encountered and that others have already posted. My impression of 12.3 is positive. It's smooth and drives like a human, well maybe an extremely careful human. It handles single and multilane traffic circles like champ. There is still much room for...

I assume that you tried climbing in a rear door, dropping seats and seeing if the manual release would work.
  49. jabloomf1230

    No rear collision avoidance

I could be wrong, but that option only prevents you from backing into an object. Teslas's logic is that with cameras and USS, that driver will avoid backing into something. Now if you mean by rear collision avoidance, that your car would prevent you from being hit from behind, that would be...
