    Wheel bearing change.

Yeah @Vip , I feel like the service centers are pretty random when it comes to things like this. They said they were fine putting on the OEM parts even if I got them myself.

    Wheel bearing change.

I can confirm that the little plastic bits were just for shipping and aren't needed. I had the Tesla service center replace my wheel bearings because they only charged $78 per wheel bearing to replace them. I felt like that was worth it because I was expecting to spend a lot of time spraying the...

    Wheel bearing change.

The service center told me one of my front wheel bearings needed to be replaced. I ordered two of them (to replace both front bearings) using the link German Amazon link that Rolf68 posted in this thread. I just got the bearings in the mail. The box got a pretty good beating during shipment and...

Carl Medlock and his Medlock & Sons Tesla Roadster rehab shop in Seattle recently received a profile by CNBC. Minor rear end damage to my baby...

My bumper appeared to just be scuffed. I thought that it would just need to be repainted. When Autocraft took my car apart, they found out that there were a couple of broken plastic attachment points.

Minor rear end damage to my baby...

I had a minor read-end accident last year; idiots in big trucks like to bump into me for some reason. I had it repaired at Autocraft Bodywerks in Austin (Autocraft Bodywerks), which has been a Tesla certified body for many years. It took a long time to get the bumper because Tesla had run out of...

No fully leather-free (vegan) option being planned for the Model 3

When I test drove the Performance Model 3 last Friday, I asked about the vegan steering wheel availability. Luckily, the person who went with me on my test drive was vegan; consequently, he was very interested to find out about the non-leather steering wheel. He sent the videos that I attached...

Losing maximum power in Roadster Sport - due to battery aging?

I wonder how expensive it would be to build an L1 cache for the battery with ultracapacitors. It might not make sense now, but it might in a few years. http://www.maxwell.com/images/documents/whitepaper_electricdrives.pdf I would love to have a lightweight 20kWh battery made out of energy dense...

No fully leather-free (vegan) option being planned for the Model 3

There was a question about leather at the 2018 shareholder meeting. Elon/Franz said that Tesla was working to eliminate leather from the steering wheel. They said it's possible to get a non-leather steering wheel for the S/X and model 3 by asking for it.

    What about the tow hitch?

I have a crappy harbor freight utility trailer for my Leaf (like in the picture above). I went to Home Depot recently with my dad to pick up about 6" thick of pressure treated 4x8 sheets of plywood. If you're towing a small load like that, you can barely tell that you're pulling a trailer...

    Supercharger - Fort Stockton, Texas

What about calling a welding company in Fort Stockton? One of them might let you use a spare NEMA 6-50 socket if you pay them. You should probably only charge at 32A though since 50A welding circuits are intermittent loads and typically use a smaller gauge wire than a constant load requires...

Suspension / Ride Quality / Handling - Too firm or Just Right?

That bit of the review of the Model 3 is the best thing I've read about the Model 3. I hope that the Model 3 is way closer to the Roadster than the Model S on the handling spectrum. I feel like the Model S drives like a giant boat; I find its performance somewhat disconcerting. The Roadster...

A little spreadsheet trying to explain/conceptualize why things are the way they are

The EPA mileage tests don't include important driving elements like drag racing, burn outs or donuts. They're more like how a 95 year old drives a Buick. So, I don't think any reduced efficiencies (if they do exist) from pushing the battery/inverter/motor harder in the standard 3 would be...

I don't know what alloy of aluminum the wheel is, but aluminum loses a lot of strength after welding if it is not properly heat treated. Oklahoma takes the cake for the dumbest EV incentive of all time. You could buy an electric car with a 50%!!! tax credit and sell it the next day with no penalty. The person who originally owned #851 pocketed about $40k for storing it in his/her garage for a little while.

That's really cool. Did you consider using a LiFePO4 battery pack? I think in the United States the only option for such a pack would be the first year Spark EV. I think that there was an option to buy the i-Miev in Japan with a LiFePO4 battery as well. The energy density isn't as good as a...
