    2020 Tesla Model S Performance w/FSD

OK - I obviously can't scrub all data sources so it may not be the lowest priced but I stand by my statement that it's subjectively the nicest :)

    2020 Tesla Model S Performance w/FSD

Price cut: Now $89,900. This is the lowest priced (and arguably the nicest) 2020 MSP w/FSD in the country.

    WTB... Now: 18-20 MS P100DL or P-Raven w/ FSD

I have a 2020 Red MSP w/FSD for sale but as others have stated, my FSC will not transfer nor will any post 2017. Best of luck in your car search.

Not the turbo - probably the S or GTS. I know I'll never have anything close to the acceleration of the MSP but I really miss a twisty road and rowing through the gears. Turbo S would be nice but hard to justify that price 😳

    2020 Tesla Model S Performance w/FSD

Good catch - 7734 miles this morning. I'm selling because when I bought this car it was between this Model SP and a Porsche 911. I now see that my heart was with the Porsche. I convinced myself that the Tesla was the more practical choice (it is) and it's an incredible piece of engineering. I...

    2020 Tesla Model S Performance w/FSD

The exact answer depends on which county you register the vehicle. There's a bunch of flat fees based on state and county (registration, CHP fee, etc.) then there's the Vehicle License Fee which is 0.65% of the car's value. I'm guessing you can go to NADA retail values to see how it depreciates...

    2020 Tesla Model S Performance w/FSD

I seem to remember registration fees were a bit over $900 when I bought the car. Registration is due in June - I would expect it to be a little less than that for renewal.

    Dash Display reboots while driving

    Charge for Warranty Claim?!

Yup - that along with the trim that I had to get readjusted when I picked up. And the MCU rebooting multiple times during a long drive up to Northern CA (500+ miles each way). I have a mobile tech coming out on Monday for this last one but it really seems to be a SW issue that may or may not be...

    Charge for Warranty Claim?!

Totally agree and I'm in no way defending Tesla. I was taken aback when I first saw it. For how much the car cost, the customer service sucks but right now this is the best e-car available right now. As others have stated - love the car, hate the service.

    Charge for Warranty Claim?!

I have a 2020 MSP and this has been the case for the 2 trips to the SC. End of the day everything was covered under warranty. -craigger.

    18 Model S 100D Totaled

Ah - missed the 1.49% - that's a great rate. So - looks like OP paid a lot more per year for usage of the car. It sucks but no one comes out ahead in a situation like this...

    18 Model S 100D Totaled

I think it's a false economy to talk about opportunity cost when it comes to money spent on a car. Other than necessities, any money you have is either 'working money' or 'play money'. Maximize ROI on working money and maximize fun on 'play money'. Paying interest on a depreciating asset is...

    18 Model S 100D Totaled

I'm not forgetting that at all. I stated "The payments you made the past 2 years pretty much went to the privilege of using someone else's money (also known as interest)". When you take out an auto loan, the first couple years are pretty much all interest payments. No matter what, that's...

    18 Model S 100D Totaled

That really sucks, but unfortunately it's part of financing a new car. If they do offer $70K, the way I look at it is you paid $22K to use the car for 2 years (50K down minus 28K settlement after payoff). The payments you made the past 2 years pretty much went to the privilege of using someone...

    SSD for Dashcam/Sentry dropping connection

    Legacy Auto Makers

It varies. I don't have a lot of experience with car service centers since I do all my own maintenance. Of course, this doesn't hold true for the Tesla. The only experience I have there was for a camera alignment issue - it wasn't fixed the first time and they left my car with greasy...

    Dash Display reboots while driving

    Dash Display reboots while driving

Has anyone else had dash display reboots while driving on newer Model S's? I did our first long drive in our 2020 MSP on Monday (500+ miles). During the drive, the dash display rebooted 4-5 times while driving. First time freaked me out pretty good. After the trip, I did some research and it...

Owners delivery stories, photos and first impressions

I think you just described the missing piece of the puzzle for me. For ICE sports cars - when they accelerate, the engine/exhaust sounds makes it feel like you're riding a rocket that could explode at any minute. Like you said, not going back to ICE but it's something my brain is missing. Maybe...

FSD NOW 8k for all models

Given the timing of the price increase, I'm sure it was one of the many tactics that Elon used to try and get Q2 profitable, making it 4 consecutive profitable quarters thus eligible for inclusion in the S&P500.

Owners delivery stories, photos and first impressions

Yeah, don't get me wrong - I take full advantage of the acceleration/handling and my average wh/mile is embarrassingly high. I've been trying to figure out what the difference in 'feeling' boils down to. The best I can figure out is that go-fast sports cars are usually pretty bad at driving...

I will say I miss the rumble of a nice V8, but probably not enough to go back to ICE. I do have a 95 Harley Dyna I'm doing a ground-up rebuild on so that will probably scratch the petrol itch. One thing I'll say about the MSP is that as fast as it is, it doesn't 'beg' to be driven hard. Not sure...

    $5K price drop?

Since I picked up the car during COVID-19 I haven't experienced the lines at the superchargers. Not looking forward to that. The free supercharging is nice but you're right - it wouldn't bother me that much to pay for it. In fact, if paying for it somehow resulted in lower wait times at...

2020 Model S Long Range Plus

Never once considered the LR. One of the other cars I was considering was the Panamera Turbo, which is a much nicer car in many respects. The one thing that turned me towards the MSP is the insane acceleration that you just won't see outside a Porsche 918 Spyder. At 1/10th the cost, the MSP is a...

2020 Model S Long Range Plus

I have a 2020 Model S Perf w/FSD and my wife drives a 2016 Porsche Cayenne S so I can directly compare the two on many aspects. When I bought the MS, I realized I was buying a technology platform. This comes with all the cutting-edge technology, features, and bugs of any other tech platform...

Autopilot won't work- Cameras require alignment message.

It ended up being the front camera alignment. A bit of a hiccup - I got it 'fixed' and had to wait for the camera calibration to complete. Had the same issue - wasn't happy. Called the SC and they scheduled me next day - went through another camera calibration and it has been fine ever since...

2020 Model SP: metallic coating on windshield?

Thanks for the info and photo. Here's the photo of my windshield from the outside: Once again - more confirmation that they removed the metallic coating. That Stinger VIP system looks insane. I'll have to look at laser jamming solutions for my car. -craigger.

2020 Model SP: metallic coating on windshield?

OK - did a quasi-scientific test. Went to a parking lot where there were several door opener radar sources present. I pointed my car at one and did the following. First, put the radar detector out the window and got a reading: Took a reading through the driver's side windshield (with window...

2020 Model SP: metallic coating on windshield?

I have a Valentine1 Gen2 coming in on Monday (that I'm really hoping I don't have to return). I plan on doing some experiments with different parts of the windshield and with no windshield using my local grocery store door sensor as my radar source and I'll post results here.

2020 Model SP: metallic coating on windshield?

Hi all - I just got a 2020 Model S Performance and I'm looking for radar detector solutions. In my manual, it states that there is a cutout to the metallic windshield to the right of the rear-view mirror: Under really close inspection, I don't see any cutout (nor the black dots that they...

    Show off your aftermarket wheels.

My 2020 Model S Performance with 20" TSS Flow Forged wheels. I got the staggered setup with 245/40-20s in the front and 275/40-20s in the rear. I love the way they look - slightly firmed up the ride and smaller sidewalls seems to improve cornering. BTW - have a really cheap set of new 19"...

New Wheels! 20" T-Sportline TSS Flow Forged

Upgraded my wheels to T-Sportline 20" TSS Flow Forged Tesla Wheels. I went with staggered (245/40-20 fronts, 275/40-20 rears). Love the look - was thinking about the 21" OEM Twin Turbines, but when I started researching I couldn't believe how heavy they were. BTW - if anyone wants some 19"...
