Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

I did not check. Maybe I'll go back and do another test drive this weekend. For what it's worth, both my LEMR and SR+ have "Obstacle aware acceleration" turned on and I haven't seen this degree of limitation in the acceleration in either of them.

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Yes, the acceleration off the line felt very unlike a Tesla for the RWD model. To me, it's not just missing the "fun factor" that I've always associated with prior Teslas but also makes me feel like I'm likely to overestimate its capabilities and get into a bad situation (e.g. when merging)...

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

So, this weekend I test drove the Highland (both the RWD and the AWD versions). For reference, I'm coming from a LEMR and SR+ Model 3 (both with NCA batteries). I noticed a huge difference in the acceleration curve between the RWD Highland compared with my previous Model 3's. For the RWD...

New iOS Shortcuts support - How to use if you have more than one Tesla?

Yep, I'm seeing the new app update, and now it does indeed work with multiple Teslas, resolving my original issue. Yep, I'm seeing the new app update, and now it indeed works with multiple Teslas, resolving my original issue. Thanks everyone!

New iOS Shortcuts support - How to use if you have more than one Tesla?

Hi, I'm excited to see that the Tesla App now supports iOS shortcuts. Finally, I can ask Siri to precondition the car. But what if you have more than one Tesla? How do you specify which car the shortcut would apply to? For example, I can make a shortcut to precondition the car, but I...

Clunking metal sound when accelerating and decelerating on 2023 MYLR Austin

I have noticed something very similar on my 2022 Fremont-built MYLR. It might be the same thing. Sounds as though a piece of metal goes clunk back and forth with acceleration and deceleration rather than loosely rolling around, though.

Question about net metering calculations (NEM2 in California)

Thanks to all for your responses. With this knowledge (especially the key terminology I was missing: "metering interval") I was able to find an official page with the answer. According to the CPUC, here are the metering intervals for the calculation of NBCs: 1 hour for residential customers...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I didn’t go through all 14 pages of replies, but in case no one has already mentioned it, I’d like to say I’ve experienced the same phenomenon on the States. It was really annoying. Then I figured it out. When I’m behind an 18 wheeler in the outermost lane, Autopilot will slow down a bit to...

Charging with "excess solar energy" (without Powerwall)

Thanks for attaching the graphs. It's not encouraging to hear. It looks as though the charger bounces back and forth between charging too much and too little in order to average it out to zero. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to adjust the algorithm with a software update to smooth it...

Charging with "excess solar energy" (without Powerwall)

Do you have a SolarEdge standalone charger that communicates with the inverter? Or is it an inverter with an integrated charger?

Question about net metering calculations (NEM2 in California)

I'm trying to use up "excess solar" generated during the day, to avoid those "non-bypassable charges" under NEM2 in California. So, as I'm trying to optimize this, I have a question: Does billing occur second-by-second? (i.e. if I send 0.1 kWh to the grid and consume 0.1 kWh from the grid a...

Charging with "excess solar energy" (without Powerwall)

That's unfortunate to hear, since the Emporia solution seems to be one of the easier solutions to install and less expensive, too. What issue(s) did you encounter with their excess solar feature? How long has it been since tech support worked with you on it?

Charging with "excess solar energy" (without Powerwall)

Now that I'm on solar with NEM2, I believe I'll be paying "non-bypassable charges" when charging at night using power generated during the day. These are small, but they add up - I'm calculating about $180 a year for 25,000 miles. One way to avoid this is to charge during the day and constantly...

    Model Y LR vs. EV6

I test drove an EV6 recently too. It was the RWD Wind without the Tech package. The dealership was great to work with (at least for the test drive). They let me take it out for an extended spin on my own for about 45 min. For reference, my daily driver is a Model 3 LEMR, and I once briefly...

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Today I received my VIN for a MY LR. I called up both the main Tesla number and the SA at my delivery center to ask whether it had the Ryzen MCU. Even before I gave either of them my RN or VIN number, both said it had the Ryzen. Both said that all the Model Y's now being delivered had the the...

Comparisons between Autopilot and Highway Driving Assist 2?

One of the biggest reasons to get a Tesla is Autopilot and (optionally) Auto Lane Change. To my knowledge, no other car maker offers this. But I see that the Ioniq 5 has an option for Highway Driving Assist 2, which sounds as though it offers the same basic functionality - dynamic cruise...

Does adding FSD reset the price of the car (to current pricing)?

Yeah, I definitely agree that it isn’t worth $10k for most people. I already have FSD on another car and even have FSD beta, so I know its capabilities well and I think I have a good idea of how close city street FSD is to prime time (which is not close at all). In my situation there are two...

Does adding FSD reset the price of the car (to current pricing)?

Thanks! With that data point in mind, I just added FSD to my order, and confirmed that it didn't bump up the price of the vehicle.

Does adding FSD reset the price of the car (to current pricing)?

I have a Model Y LR on order, and it was ordered back when the price was much lower. I'm thinking about clicking the button to add FSD. But I don't want the price of the car to jump up to the current pricing. For those who have clicked the button - did it bump up the pricing? (So far, I've...

How to lock door quickly if being chased and jumping into car?

While it's not a physical button, the lock icon on the screen is pretty easy to find if you know to look for it, and it's not hidden behind any menus. Just one tap to lock/unlock the doors. it's probably just as fast as reaching into your pockets to get the fob out.

One iPhone, two Teslas. Looking for way to avoid switching cars in the app every time I swtich. Any updates?

Just downloaded the app and tried it out. It works! I unlocked one car with the phone in my pocket, and then went to the other car and unlocked it without taking out the phone! Woohoo!

One iPhone, two Teslas. Looking for way to avoid switching cars in the app every time I swtich. Any updates?

This forum has been a great resource. This has been asked before, but I'm wondering whether, in 2021, anyone has figured this out: My family has two Teslas, and we often switch cars. Every time we switch, we need to go into our iPhone apps and switch cars there too, in order for phone to...

Problems un-enrolling from PG&E's SmartAC program

    Problems un-enrolling from PG&E's SmartAC

Has anyone run into issues un-enrolling from PG&E's SmartAC program? I called them to unenroll over 4 months ago, and the rep did so (or at least she said she did). I then tried to enroll in a different demand response program, and they told me that PG&E still had me enrolled in SmartAC...

    Touchless Delivery Walkthrough

Thanks for getting this thread started. I got a call last night saying that I needed to do a funds transfer and accept delivery prior to being able to inspect the car today. I'd much rather inspect first, and then hand over the funds. But my delivery center tells me that's not an option. How...

Rejected Tesla Model Y Performance Delivery (6/18/20)

What happens when you reject delivery, in terms of the monetary transaction? If you provided funds when you accepted the car online, does the transaction still go through, or does the transaction process get halted?

Need to submit final balance before being allowed to see vehicle?

Indeed, it sounds like the process can be vary a lot depending on the time and delivery center. It's a bummer that mine is so insistent on having the payment before seeing the vehicle. Given the recent news about the quality issues, you'd think they'd be a little more flexible.

Need to submit final balance before being allowed to see vehicle?

@LevelHeaded: Thanks for pointing out your post - I had missed it. At least they're letting you look at the car from the outside. In my case, I was told that without completing the transaction online, I wouldn't even be able to find out where the car is located.

Need to submit final balance before being allowed to see vehicle?

I'm one of the lucky few who have an upcoming delivery for a Model Y. But then I got a call from someone at the delivery center (Rocklin, CA) saying that I need to submit the payment for the final amount before I can even see the vehicle. I brought up the concern that I'd like to see the...

Fit & Finish Issues Plaguing Model Y

I was wondering the same thing. In any discussion forum, people are more likely to post when there are issues than about uneventful deliveries. For what it's worth, I started a poll to incorporate the opinions of the "silent minority": Improvements in build quality after factory...

AWD Non-Performance White Interior Waiting Room

Just got my text today. "Your Model Y is on its way to the Rocklin Delivery Center and is ready to be scheduled for delivery!" MSM, White, AWD, Gemini, no FSD, no tow. Ordered 3/20. Interestingly, the VIN still hasn't shown up on the site (but is visible in source code). It seems like good...

Improvements in build quality after factory re-opening?

Based on these forums and YouTube videos, there are some issues that come up repeatedly with Model Y's: Rear seats not folding down when the lever is pulled, frunk/trunk not latching properly when closing, noisy heat pump, etc. I read somewhere that Tesla re-tooled their factories during the...
