Yes, the CF hood is much lighter.

The primary purpose of a rear diffuser is to efficiently increase the downforce of a vehicle, which helps increase grip and reduce aerodynamic drag. It also provides a nice look on the vehicle. It’s why you see them on race cars, for this aerodynamic benefit.

I recently completed QL-38 hood pins install on my Model 3 Performance, since I didn’t want to go carbon fiber for the hood without them. Did not go the hood scoop route though.

Went with QL-38’s and figured out my own solution for mounting. I am happy with the results.

Ended up having to take the whole rear bumper off for install, but rear diffuser on now and turned out pretty well in my opinion.

I bought them from Guangzhou Zhidao Trading Co. in China. The side skirts install with 3M, so no drilling for them.

Has anyone removed, or know how to remove the small plastic lip (see picture) on the bottom of the stock rear diffuser on the Model 3 performance? It’s the small lip piece that sticks out the back. I’ve tried removing the two screws on it underneath, but still couldn’t get it off, and wondering...

Thanks for the reply and info. I've seen one Model 3 with both a carbon fiber hood and trunk. There were images with both as carbon fiber, then after they did a wrap between the hood and trunk over crossbar above the windows to tie the black together, which looked really slick with the contrast...
