Does Tesla update the pricing in the rate plans that exist in the app? Or are we expected to do that ourselves as the rates change? I'm on E-TOU-B and the pricing in the app appears to be vastly different from the most recent posted tariff sheet from PG&E.

My previous experience with VPP was that it pegged my site export limit, often hitting my reserve (even if set very low) before the peak period ended. This go around the algorithm seems pretty conservative. I haven't hit my reserve limit yet in the 3 VPP events I've watched.

I have a reservation for a Silverado EV and our PV + Powerwall install was done by a SunPower installer. I couldn't wait though and bought a 3/4 ton Diesel this summer :) If the Silverado EV takes long enough I might buy it as well.

Yes but if you have the time based controls and TOU-B rate plan set, you should not be using from your powerwall at all on Sat or Sunday. The VPP baseline looks at your Powerwall usage (not home loads) and compares against the event output. Since my PWs are on standby (other than charging)...

I mean the baseline that is used to determine compensation from the event. My weekend behavior is very different from week day because of all day off peak. Hopefully the event calculation takes that into consideration.

Right, but since the sun will still be up and the event is only 1 hour I'm going to be watching the balance between Solar and Home Load. In other words, I might have less than 10.8 kW output from the PW to hit the site limit export.

I'm at 88% state of charge right now because we went all the way down to 5% yesterday during the event. Fortunately the event today will only be one hour, so 10.8 kWh will be exported [site limit] (We will see how Solar balances against Home load for that hour).

Welp... I didn't make it until 9:00 pm. My PWs reached 5% reserve at about 8:40 pm, turned off and I started pulling from the grid. I kicked off my ACs until 9:00. I'll post my full charts from the day tomorrow.

If you login using the IP of the gateway and click "Summary" there will be a reported setting called "Site Export Limit".

Power reported on the VPP page is PW discharge not grid discharge. I appear to be limited to 10.8 kW even though I have 3 PW (reported to be 10.77 kW in settings). Screenshots when AC kicked on and without. Export to grid amount stayed the same.

Same behavior for me. Typically 100% of solar goes to the grid and home runs off PW. Taken in the 4-5 pm hour.

I think it’s forced unless you opt out of the event. I’m on TOU-B so it’s kind of a non event for me. If I was on an EV plan then I’d like to charge from the grid every night!

The exporting will be from 6 - 9 PM The event allows our systems to charge from the grid in the morning to make sure we are at 100% when peak starts.
