The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

We have really gone off to a lot of tangents here and you guys are all great to banter with. I had no idea this thread would have blown up into this. I do respect all of your opinions, and boy we have many! I am going to part ways and enjoy my new car. Thank you all for the great conversation!

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

That’s not true with a lease where it is a closed end. You agree to pay X amount for the car total split over the term. It doesn’t matter how they split it, what maters is the total you pay to rent the car. That’s why in a lease, they can do whatever the heck they want with numbers so long as...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

Tell me how? If at the end of the term I paid $30,000 and the interest rate was x%, but on another car I paid $30,000 over the term and the interest was y%. $30,000 for x car is the same as $30,000 for the y car. If you understand leasing, you understand this. That is what is called the...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

For me it’s more of the need that I had to get rid of the car two years prematurely because of the constant issues. Had I been able to keep it the full four years that I had planned to, the depreciation hit would not have been as great. I can’t say that I miss the car now that it is gone...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

… I’ll give you the MF is way high. At the end of the day, I don’t care if they charge me a MF of effectively 99% APR and the rent charge $10….I care about down payment + (monthly payment X number of months) to arrive at my total out of pocket over the term. How they structure it is up to them...

Again, you need to learn how leases work before blowing your top my friend. It was zero down. Well about $300ish down to cap cost reduction. That’s basically zero. The rest of the $2,000 is TTT, fees, and First Month Payment. That’s a zero down lease. Well the $300ish is there so yeah. And the...

You might want to read up on the mechanics of leasing. Leasehackr is a great place for you to start. The RV is 62%. At the end of last year, you could pick up a 2023 for a great deal. They were very motivated to move the outgoing year. The 2024s, not so much...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

Mine sold for $53,588. So I could have made an extra $10k-$15k by selling it privately, which wasn’t an option. That seems about right then what Carvana paid me. Even if a little on the low end, nobody else was willing to purchase it outside of private sale. That‘s the point you fail to see...

Honestly, the service center in Orlando is really good. I was usually able to get a loaner, but you just don’t know until you arrive, so it’s a crap shoot. So I still have to cancel my appointments not knowing if I will have a loaner or not. Getting an appointment takes weeks, however, here in...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

I knew of the big price drop of the previous Model S-(whatever). Very similar to the Plaid today. I factored in keeping the car for four years, then getting rid of it once it was out of warranty. I was willing to take the depreciation hit at that point, and frankly expected it. However, having...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

I’ll pose it this way… what do you think a proper lease payment would be on a $170,000 car, over 36 months, with zero down, and with 10k miles per year? Hint…you can go to a Mercedes Benz website and it will calculate it for you. I’m paying $77,400 to get rid of the biggest headache in...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

    1. You must not have leased cars before. 2. Please re-read my post. Carvana was the only buying service that would take it. I did not want to sell privately. To put this into perspective. Vroom offered me $92,000 just under one year ago. It lost about $30,000 in less than a year.

Mercedes basically gave me the car, so they eat the depreciation this time. That’s why I leased it. EVs aren’t selling. Tesla‘s (3 and Y) are selling, but not other EVs. That may change depending how much Tesla integrates their charging network with the other makes. $170,000 car for 0 down and...

I forgot to add… Elon’s Musk smell of the mold growing in the HEPA assembly of the Plaid has been replaced with a fragrance that the Mercedes injects into the air that smells like “Bamboo Mood” whatever that is. It does beat the gym sock smell of my Plaid.

Vroom wouldn’t buy it. KBB wouldn’t buy it. I think they are scared of the depreciation unknown. Same reason Hertz is selling the bulk of their Teslas. The depreciation is killing their balance sheet. Carvana is the only one who made me an offer. It is shocking. I have never owned a car that...

Is the Model S a villian now?

Doesn’t all that crap fly around your frunk and get damaged every time you smash the accelerator? 1.5g X a 3 pound impact gun could do some damage! I make it a point to keep nothing in the frunk or trunk so I can smash the accelerate with free will!

I don’t think me telling the Tesla tech what [I think] is broken on the car would make a bit of difference. Once they removed my N2itive arms and replaced them with Tesla OEM arms, they began to search for the cause of the clunking sound. They found it rather quickly….the rear links. Tesla...

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

True, nothing official yet. He smokes the Plaid in the video, nonetheless, by three car lengths in the quarter. Maybe a bad start by the Plaid. Who knows. My money is still on the Lucid, though I’d never buy one. Way too risky with a 50/50 chance of it ending up like another Fisker. Not to...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

It’s not the brand, it’s the size. 19” tires do not have the inner tread separation. 21” tires do have the inner tread separation. 21” Michelin tires have it on Teslas as OEM tires. 21” Pirelli tires have it on Lucids as OEM tires.
  41. emailforbrett

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

There is no such thing as an OEM Pirelli 21” tire on the Plaid. I am merely speculating here, but perhaps that’s what you haven’t seen one?

Put on a set of N2itive rear adjustable arms or Macboost or shims, etc. It will fix the tread separation issue and you can enjoy your 21’s.

I love my model s plaid!!!

My 2021 Plaid has been in the shop several times. Normally not an issue with other cars, but with Tesla, each shop visit takes a month to schedule and the car sits outside waiting for parts for weeks. Sometimes they have a loaner, sometimes not. So it’s frustrating. My GPS went out only two...

    Model S Plaid huge depreciation

Mine was one of the first deliveries of the Plaid. I got a slight discount for originally ordering the pre-refresh Model S Performance which Tesla switched to the refresh Plaid. I say to each their own and the man is proud of his car—as he should be. It’s a Plaid. Good on him for making it the way he likes it.
